Sven Harmeling, Head of Climate at CAN Europe: The ESABCC report outlines the critical importance of a just transition towards sustainable agriculture. This comes at a time when impacts are already severely affecting farmers and rural communities. The EU’s newly agreed 2040 climate target will also require the agricultural sector to contribute to the necessary emission reductions. Reducing and redirecting harmful subsidies, and scaling up support to enable a just transition for farmers and rural communities, are at the heart of the ESABCC recommendations. A socially-just greenhouse gas pricing mechanism in the agri-food system should also be considered, and can be instrumental in supporting the transition to a more resilient agriculture system.
The @esabcc.bsky.social has released a landmark report on EU agri-food, and its message is clear:
❌ Europe cannot meet climate goals without transforming agriculture
👩🌾 For CAN Europe, a just transition is essential: for farmers, rural communities and the climate!

According to the @ipcc.bsky.social, marine heat waves have doubled in frequency and have become longer-lasting, more intense, and more extensive since the 1980s.
Urgent #ClimateAction is needed to #SaveOurOcean and ensure a sustainable future for all.

Infographic with an underwater photo split between lush green seagrass (left) and bare sandy seafloor (right). IPBES logo top right reads "Science and Policy for People and Nature." Large white text: "Seagrass Meadows – Lost over 10% Every decade, 1970–2000." Bottom text: "IPBES Global Assessment reveals critical marine decline impacting biodiversity and climate resilience."
Marine ecosystems, from coastal to deep sea, now show the influence of human actions, with coastal marine ecosystems showing both large historical losses of extent and condition as well as rapid ongoing declines.
Let’s act to restore what’s been lost. 🌊🌱
Happy World #Seagrass Day!

Ipbes report: Nature loss could spell extinction for businesses
Experts call for urgent action by businesses to restore the natural systems that keep them running.
🌿 Can businesses survive without nature? The NEW @ipbes.net #BizBiodiversity report says no. Companies depend on biodiversity, yet many degrade it. Shifting to nature-positive practices is essential.
