A plant with red leaves that look a bit like holly plant leaves has a cluster of yellow blooms at the center. The ones that are fully open are yellow, but the ones that have yet to open and are spherical. These closed blooms are mostly green, but many have traces of pink on them as well. The red color of the leaves is unusual among Oregon Grape, but sometimes the plants do this.
A plant with bright green leaves with spikes somewhat like holly leaves. At the center is a cluster of closed blossoms. Almost all of these are a green, in a slightly lighter shade a the surrounding leaves. Several have small traces of pink and 3 are fully formed pink spheres. There are no fully open yellow ones. This is the normal color of Oregon Grape leaves.
Oregon Grape (Mahonia aquifolium) is starting to go into bloom in northwest, as see in tonight's 9 o'clock photos.
The color changes are quite interesting. As seen in the sample at right (8 Mar 2026) blooms start out as green balls, develop some pink hue.
At left, full blooms are yellow (6 Mar 2026)

Keep in mind while pondering this that melon head Musk has the opposite attitude about empathy.
Maybe it's just me, but I don't think anyone who has such questionable eating habits that he gave himself mercury poisoning and has a dead worm in his brain is qualified to question what anyone else chooses to eat or drink.
