Wonderful to join to the St. Patrick’s celebration in Buffalo. Irish heritage and culture run deep in Western NY, represented well by the Buffalo Irish Center. We honor the Irish immigrants who made a home in NY and contributed greatly to our state.

DiNapoli Report Analyzes Increases in NYC's Unsheltered Population and Spending In a report released today, State Comptroller Thomas P. DiNapoli examined New York City’s expanded efforts to address the rise in its unsheltered (street homeless) population.

The homeless population living on NYC’s streets has grown even as the city effectively found shelter for homeless individuals. My new report looks at the costs and ways to improve outcomes for the city’s unsheltered homeless individuals.

Statement:

β€œThe Executive Budget for the upcoming state fiscal year comes at a time of unusual fiscal uncertainty, caused largely by federal policies that have injected unnecessary volatility into the state and national economies. These policies will result in lost funding and increased costs to the state, and could deal a devastating blow to hundreds of thousands of New Yorkers with the loss of health coverage, nutritional assistance, safety net protections and more. As negotiations commence, policymakers need to proceed with caution as they work on balancing the budget, improving affordability and maintaining vital services for New Yorkers."
