ive had the 1st version of csp for most of the past decade and i keep seeing posts about people upgrading but i imagine moving my 500 brush files and close my eyes
We need to go back in time and stop genshin impact from existing I can't take it
despite hating everything listed here and more that doesn't even concern the switch to 3D, i will still probably try to complete the game because i must not hate baselessly. i like picking apart why things end up bad... it's like how i felt about the blessings route in hundred line
at least... there is fast travel. i guess
And of course this goes with immediate problem 3: The map is too fucking big. Time has to be slowed down by HALF of the previous releases to accommodate for the gigantic ass map, which is only there because it's a 3D game. it makes the days way too long and the game becomes a slog
picking up and putting down furniture in the spots you want is way harder, throwing things in the way you want also feels harder. it's just not very clean and it's like that because having the same controls as the 2D games would translate even worse to a large visible 3D model
(the items thing also made me remember how it's so difficult to see drops on the map they had to add a sparkle animation to them, which goes with the It's Ugly point)
This also brings me to my next point:
Immediate Problem 2: It controls bad
Movement is way too slow! I feel like i'm controlling an undulating garden hose instead of a fine whip. i cannot stress enough how bad even just picking up items feels; it's not crisp like in previous mainlines
Also bears mentioning is how stiff the 3D models' animations are. cutscenes look really awkward and lifeless because the 3D models are what the camera focuses on the most
This also applies to the sprite work. So many of the sprites in rf5 just look, like... weird because they're too smooth. it's like the ace attorney/999 port art being smoothened out i seriously don't like it
Immediate problem 1: It's ugly
The 2D games had really nice hand-drawn backgrounds that, when converted to the games resolution, got a bit crunched. It looks really charming. This game just has really garish and generic environments. The colors they chose aren't coherent at all
I dont know what they poison the tapwater with in the devs offices that makes them think handheld = 2D and console = 3D in the current era but it's actually baffling how innumerably worse this game is because it's a 3D release. 80% of my problems off the bat would be solved if it was still 2D
i restarted my save since i initially got about midway through spring but its been a while so i figured, spring 19 isnt that far, i can just catch up in a day. Brother. It is far
playing rune factory 5 again and in the few years since it came out i really forgot how bad literally every design decision made in this game was. just all across the board what were they thinking
Ah, Garcian.......how long has it been.....
i need the coyote smith youre fucked clean soundfile so bad
i don't know #art #hndr_fa
how it feels being a switch 2less pokopialet in march 7th 2026
there are also a lot of mediocre harvest moon games pre-genreboom. do not get me wrong. i have played them. what were they doing in island of happiness
man simulation games like farming games are a bit of a guilty pleasure of mine because i really like the time/task/resource management aspect of them but since The Cozy Epidemic i feel like the genre is just inundated with really shallow games. and so i feel shy about mentioning i like them
if i dont like it im caving and installing godot. I'll do everything my damn self. ill watch 2 tutorials on youtube and get overwhelmed and give up. We can do anything
part of me wants to complain about the sprite art for it not being quite to my taste but i rarely let such petty things stop me from enjoying a game... if it's not too expensive i'll pick it up and see
i did see graveseasons is finally releasing this year so maybe if i get to play it the hole in my heart will be filled. i need some conflict god damn it
at the end of the day i feel slight disappointment... i like it but i wish it was better..... and it's like what i said in last week's thread. they accomplish what they've set out to do very well but i just don't agree with that vision 100%
sorta to be expected from this game which is very milquetoast in how it handles any conflict (i.e. everything magically resolves itself). also perfectly slots in with my complaints about the game before this update since it's the exact same problem i had before. i suppose they're consistent at least

in terms of the newest stuff i really wish the end of the mines questline which is arguably, like, The msq had a smoother ending transition because the world state change between before and after it is really sudden. like there shouldve been another cutscene before the quest ended
