Yeah I'm not trying to say it's bad, just give realistic expectations because experiences will vary on a number of factors. Crossover is one of a number of compatibility solutions that may or may not work for everyone's needs. Glad it worked for you though.

Yeah crossover is another thing that works great for a lot of people, but some unlucky people might be banging their head against the wall. Also Microsoft could add an update at any time that breaks compatibility.
Amazing thanks to steam proton. As long as you don't play online shooters that use anti cheat software and don't mind occasionally tweaking a few compatibility settings, most stuff just works. It's what made it worth it to finally switch full time.

Yes Linux is easier to use than ever. Until it isn't. You *may* get lucky that all your hardware and stuff just works and the available apps that cover all your use cases. But more likely you are still going to run into an issue with a piece of hardware or software that leads down a rabbit hole
As someone who ditched using windows for Linux and doesn't regret it, please stop doing this to random people. For one, there was nothing in this post that invited this. Second, not everyone has the time or inclination to make a new hobby out of having to learn to use their computer all over again.
The kicker is that I was diagnosed relatively early, especially for gen x (5th grade). But it was also something I was still expected to just overcome and outgrow and when I didn't, that's how I started defining failure.
This absolutely just cuts to the core of my experience living on this planet for 48 years.

I've been waiting for this record to be reissued for years. It's one of my favorite albums from when I was a teen, and has been unavailable for a while now, with prices in the hundreds. Sounds like this is a much better quality pressing than previous reissues as well. Can't wait to play it for you.

Aren't the legal issues more that they can't distribute the codecs, but the user should be able to install and use them without issue? Or am I missing something there?

Now more than ever I’m convinced losing Anthony Bourdain meant we lost probably the biggest person on tv who advocated for the wonders of meeting new people and calling anyone online who hated learning new cultures the children they were, ruthlessly to the camera.

Americans did want this, we voted for it overwhelmingly. That deeply sick, ingrained aspect of our culture is something we have to reckon with, not try to avoid responsibility for.
