not the main point, but we should note how Americans (and Europeans before them) thought that the boundaries between modernity and premodernity are porous - how we can, by our actions, replace place with time
Most people don’t know this but this is actually what they gave Socrates to drink
Screen shot of google results reading "People also ask: What personality disorder did Jesus have? Who is Satanas?"
Googling the incipit to a random Wycliffite tract to try and get more than the 19th century cataloguers are giving me, and getting some truly off-the-wall follow-up questions
Hi #EarlyModern Bluesky - did you know that someone brilliant has built working printing presses using Lego and they are trying to get enough supporters so that Lego will release it as a kit?

I just finished teaching Jo Walton’s The Just City, a book that I have come to have a significantly higher opinion of than I did when it first came out precisely because it takes this seriously. The students got a LOT out of talking about this aspect of the novel in relation to now.
I would like a different version of Hamnet where Agnes—devastated by grief—attends As You Like It and giggles the whole way through
Like 60% of working with people under 25 is reminding them that they are young and have time, and he instead creates a totally arbitrary pressured deadline for a sensitive, impressionable kid. Y I K E S !
