So we’ve got two competing schools of what the Democratic Party should do next. One of them is hosting the largest political rallies in history in places like New Hampshire and Arizona, and the other one just got $120 million from Silicon Valley and is on a book tour.

The other thing that is infuriating about Schumerism is pinning your hopes on some kind of popular movement to save you while doing nothing to foster it and in fact many things to stifle it

Time for Schumer to go.

To give a sense of how much money this is: according to CBO in 2023, non-defense discretionary spending was $917B. So the cost of running the entire federal govt, aside from SocSec, Medicare, Medicaid & defense was $917B. And in six weeks DOGE lit $500B on fire.

Here’s a rough equivalent: Consider if in 2021, Joe Biden tapped a billionaire pal to slash agencies that Republicans like (e.g. ICE and the Pentagon) and then negotiated a Dems-only gov’t funding bill with Pelosi and the squad. And told McConnell + 10 Senate Rs to vote for it. How would that go?
