Disabled people belong in the workplace.
Disabled people belong in public schools.
Disabled people belong in restaurants.
Disabled people belong in nature.
Disabled people belong at concerts.
Disabled people belong on the beach.
Disabled people belong. Period.
No one knows when they will need the accessibility they currently overlook.
Many non-disabled people have an incredibly difficult time grasping the fact that disabled people and those with chronic conditions are not going to “get better.”
Accessibility is not optional or “would be nice.”
Accessibility is absolutely necessary.
Mobility aids are not restrictive.
Inaccessibility is restrictive.
Never doubt a disabled person’s ability to know their own needs.
Inaccessibility is not sustainable.
Requesting better accessibility in the world is not unreasonable.
Expecting disabled people to just accept inaccessibility and having to navigate a world of constant barriers is, however, extremely unreasonable.
The overwhelming lack of accessible homes is its own housing crisis.
Disabled people are not asking for extravagant treatment.
Disabled people are asking to be able to use the toilet.
Disabled people are asking to be able to visit friends and family.
Disabled people are asking for the same access as their non-disabled peers.
Toxic positivity does not make people less disabled.
Toxic positivity creates feelings of shame towards natural human emotions and the need to want better for ourselves.
Ableists should not work in positions that involve providing services to disabled people.
Ableism has no place in healthcare.
Ableism has no place in the medical equipment industry.
Ableism has no place in public transportation.
Ableism has no place in an enlightened and just society.
