A whorl of green leaves that may be an emerging bee orchid
@thebotanist.bsky.social have I found some emerging bee orchids? They are an area where I've seen them before. They are in danger of mowing so an ID from an expert may help me convince owners to protect them

I think they are always very early but it is sad to see the numbers dwindling as they get picked off. There's always something interesting on or around the lake. It's my lunchtime escape

We had the dragon version as silly Christmas presents. They've been pinging around the house ever since. Some minor tail damage now.

Yes, had to substitute watermelon for the dark blue that wasn't used in the official blanket. The bright yellow wasn't included in the pattern either. I've got lots of white, red and green left over.

Two canada geese walking on an icy lake at university of Reading
The geese on the lake were more sure footed than I was on my bike today. Black ice on campus caught me out. Bruises to shin, knee, a sore hand/wrist and a broken mirror. Luckily it had gone for the homeward journey #cycling #birds #rdguk

Brilliant! You'll have the pattern for another blanket for the new year and the link to the videos. I'm finding the fb group helpful. I'm not the only one running out of yarn. Got to day 16 last night.

#OpenData research data loss funnel #SeanHill #OAI14 - for every 100 datasets generated, only 1 is shared + FAIR + Cited. Only 1% of research data reaches this gold standard. The investment in generating the data is lost. Delays opportunities/potential/discovery. Why is it lost?
