unless there are extraordinary circumstances at play, yes, it is a rational decision. but it is one that is made without consideration of rationality

but that does not mean that all impulsive decisions are rational, because words mean things

no, it is a rational decision made instinctively and without concern for rationality

a good sign you’re engaging in intellectual masturbation is that you’ve taken the position β€œwords shouldn’t mean anything, and that means i’m right”

the colts had no good options between moving forward or franchising jones until he was healthy and somehow chose a secret worse third option. incredible

This is also why concerns about Waymo cameras ring hollow for me too: I pull a lot of dashcam footage from bystanders and buses. The panopticon is a nightmare to live in but very convenient professionally

Collision reconstructionist here, I absolutely canvas areas for doorbell camera footage and use them quite frequently. Even have all the standard models calibrated for 3D reconstruction. Most people give it for free but I’ve tossed a few Benjamins too

I mean don’t get me wrong, absolutely in character if he tries to pocket veto and screws up like Paul LePage but no way it’s an intentional strategy

This is technically true but I am not going to pretend that Trump both knows this and is intentionally playing semantic word games.

I don’t support the bill, but I think the key here is 1) Trump promising to not sign any bill until SAVE is passed and even if not, 2) the tax holiday expiring in October, right before the election.

I hate it, but it’s not a total own-goal.

I mean Baltimore doesn’t actually need a reason at all, technically, since nothing is finalized until tomorrow.

so long as you have a lot of boats and aren't particularly fond of them, pretty easy to remove mines

that is certainly a theory, slightly contradicted by the fact that the checks were mostly not actually checks but direct deposits from the IRS

The voters that won him reelection weren’t those who remembered what their checks looked like 4 years later, they were the ones who couldn’t remember who was president at all during 2020.

everybody loves β€œput your name on the check” because FDR did it but no one cared when Trump did it before. Voters will just credit whoever is currently president and run it through their own partisan filter

Hate on it for being cringe, but Hamilton read farmers perfectly for what they are. β€œkeep ranting, we know who’s really doing the planting”.

Farmers like her and most others are landowners and managers of government-backed businesses, I don’t understand the argument that increased productivity developments are supposedly bad outside of pure rent-seeking.
