And, just for the record, it hasn't actually been true for the majority of those 30 years. I have no idea if it's become true in the past few years.
I've been hearing "Nobody reads anymore!" for the past 30 years, and it's always coupled with the sentiment that people who read are superior.
There's no such thing as civil bigotry.
That expression is the least insightful phrase possible in the English language.
Doubly so because the people who use it don't realize they're less clever than everyone else.
The Right shouldn't shoot people for being different. But I can see how a fringe leftist position that has the potential to hurt some rich person's feelings is so much worse.
