Left Unread Books
Dismantling systems of oppression one book at a time.
Can we end Black history month with a win? I run a publishing imprint focused on creating space for Black and brown authors. Please consider investing $5 or $12 into our work so that we can continue in our efforts to fight for marginalized authors.

A book shelf that holds so many books itβs starting to creak. The center shelves hold both the Bindery edition and the Rainbowcrate edition of Cry Voidbringer, as well as the indie edition and the Bindery Arc for Devil of the Deep. Hanging horizontally across the shelves is the favorite of my shelf decor projects, the 3 foot war hammer from which the main character takes her name in Cry Voidbringer.
Close up of the rainbowcrate Cry Voidbringer edition, showing the cover, endpapers and sprayed edge design.
Sneaky peak of the art work included in this edition by the author.
Shelf close up showing the back cover of the Rainbowcrate edition and the hammer.
My Left Unread shelves are filling up nicely! The @rainbowcrate.bsky.social edition of Cry, Voidbringer is GORGEOUS! I am deeply grateful to be a part of @michaellaborn.bsky.social efforts to fight the biases of the Tradpub industry and give us amazing stories from Black and Brown voices!

Left Unread Books | Ok, I have a little more to say! Yo...
Dismantling systems of oppression one book at a time.
Did I just drop five pages of commentary? Yes I did. I am looking for about 100 people to join our new community reading experience weβre rolling out, where we explore four books that challenge our view of the world we live in. Hereβs a sample of the kind of resources itβll come with.

This Black history month, instead of making lists & recommending the same books you do every year, invest in bringing more Black writers into the world. Subscribe to my publishing community for $5 or $12 and invest in the work we are doing to champion authors in the margins. We need your help.

A little over a week ago, my ex-wife had a very serious medical emergency and ended up in the hospital, septic. She is home but has a long recovery ahead of her and is going to need some significant help so that she can keep things running while she recovers. Posting links in the comments. Thanks!

Still raising money for ex-wife, for a medical emergency. Sheβs $300 away from whatβs needed URGENTLY. Everything else can sit a while. Dropping payment apps in the comments. If you contribute, you can DM a book you want me to read/review or bookish discourse you want me to weigh in on!

Cover of Buzzard by Inez Ray (coming September 22, 2026). The background has shades of bright, vivid yellow with simple illustrations of an eye, target, and lactating nipple. The title is in capital black letters across the top and the authorβs name across the bottom. It is simple, yet engaging, with an artistic/Latine touch.
Available for pre-order now!
Buzzard is a near-future dystopian that follows one of the last Midwives in the United States with the necessary training and experience to perform safe abortions. Which she continues to do for her community long after it has become a federal crime. When she is busted and sent to prison, she discovers a pattern of human rights violations and is forced to decide if she will keep her head down in the hope of one day getting her freedom and being reunited with her sons, or leveraging her medical training in order to advocate for the victims no one else even know exist.

Cry, Voidbringer is one of those books that will ruin you. Think Broken Earth, Poppy War, Kindred, etc. The kind of book that confronts you with the world you live in and asks you to stop and ask yourself why things are the way they are. You need this book. Trust me.
