Received a sus call today supposedly from Census, claiming I havenβt responded to my ACS Survey (which of course I would have filled out!). They gave me the name and number of a real Census employee - but Census has no record of my household being in any survey! Scam? Mistake? A demography mystery!
Itβs not just that elite unis look away. Itβs that the decision makers and board members at elite universities all went to B school together and are in the same circles. Theyβre pals. This elite has captured academia.
Now theyβre coming for Diet Coke moms.
The Brazil team justβ¦wonβt be able to participate?
Also, at what point do these countries stop processing US visas.
Had the same thought yesterday. This is the Austin Powers clip that came to mind with the steam roller in ultra slow motion posing no threat. The exaggeration in the comedy has sadly become our reality.

Yeah itβs like folks donβt even know or remember this just happened twice in Chicago in strikingly similar incidents - but the victims were both Latino/a. A man died and a woman survived multiple gunshot wounds.
Apparently the wheat, oat, and rice industry did not donate enough to the campaign/inaug? But corn did?
All this food science and they canβt make protein powders and βisolatesβ and nonsense taste anything but awful.
Those first borns though.
Exactly! Itβs hard enough to sort out the trauma in your own mind while sleep deprived, recovering, and caring for a human - let alone try to take action to rectify it! Iβve considered writing letters even now, years later...
Iβm sorry you were treated that way. I also had terrible experiences with some nurses and doctors surrounding the births of my kids. I still wonder whether suing is the only way to get through to these institutions. But imo the statute of limitations is too short for new moms to take action.
Is there anything not bizarre that comes from Doubtthat?
Billionaire names other billionaires the Billionaire of the Year.
Divorce all the competitive sports from the university system please.
Yes but I was also always struck by the mythology->Christianity syncretism - in art, holidays, etc. If the early Isis/Horus sculptures arenβt Mary/Jesus I donβt know what. Christian holidays were superimposed on solstice holidays. In some ways I think Christians still practice mythology.
I had my wedding ring made of white gold with a center band of rose gold so that I did not have to choose.
As we swing into an era in which being a good mother now means having to βdo your own researchβ and figure out on your own what is good for your childrenβs unique needs, itβs important to understand that this shift is part of a long arc of controlling women.
I have some optimism. I think things *could* change quickly with a little momentum - maybe some more progressive upsets. The bursting of AI and crypto bubbles could help advance that momentum.
Literally said all of this to a friend yesterday. But I am pessimistic there are enough folks running on a platform of accountability, sigh.
Yep! The equilibrium where a vast majority have played by the rules is broken and we tip toward chaos for a while. Until everyone realizes nothing actually works well for anyone unless thereβs cooperation. Then we reimplement rules based orders. When we do so, hopefully we can create fairer rules.
Thereβs a full blown cheating crisis in just about every sector rn - politics, law, tech - and not too many ppl doing anything about it. And itβs not just driven by AI - itβs a push against rules based orders.
Grab some frozen berries. My kids love eating them semi thawed.
I remember 6 being highly cautioned against. I think failure rates went up when folks took 6 classes.
This makes me feel better about asking everyone at UW CDHA seminar βWhat is sociology?β. No one answered the question, so I thought I must be the clueless one, but Iβm glad to hear none of us have any idea.
And if they win, Costco will cut all of its members a check, right?
Yes and the bizarrely packed schedules are driven by hyper competition to get into select colleges. 6 AP classes plus extra curriculars plus studying for SATs and ACTs is a recipe for burnout. I often tell people college was far easier than high school - youβd never take 6 college classes at once!
Technology is now so advanced that it has made technology useless. Back to analog surveys!
Interesting how they are also the ones constructing needed houses but are leading to a housing crisis.
Is studying AI even required? Sounds like just βapplyingβ it is enough? π¬
