@militaryanalyst.bsky.social Interesting claims about the lack of impact that the Flamingos have had so far. Hope you have a different take than this one…
You start with Tata consulting, infosys and Accenture and that part is done. But what’s needed is a very loud rebuke of the mendacity they’ve displayed.
Indian refineries shouting that they no longer take Russian oil and then reversing course mere days later? Sooo clever. Enough.
Not sure that it isn’t, involuntarily, a correct headline: the Chinese and especially the Indians do love their heavily discounted Russian Urals crude.
The scandal that always gets ignored is the way India gets away w playing both sides in a blatant way. Blood money. Well past time for sanctions.
But I never pressed go a breakdown. Now, I also have no clue what % of the oil that this major didn’t control would cost, not what it’d take to extract it from elsewhere. I do recall him saying that lots of Orinoco oil extraction wasn’t in any way technically challenging. would chevron think same?
Thanks for the very polite response to my childish one. I remember having many conversations with the person that was on point in the US to commercialize the Venezuelan crude, when we commuted together on my car (a Venezuelan himself) and he frequently mentioned that crazy low number.
This is laughable. I worked for a “big oil” company that had Venezuelan oil, among other crudes. The extraction cost? $80, they say?
Try single digits. About $5 bucks actually. FIVE. Are we really going to believe that one of the heaviest, sourest crudes anywhere costs $80 to just extract? Come on.
The overwhelming majority are the very opposite, highly overrated ones, with “North” being the very worst movie I’ve ever seen. Roger Ebert’s review was spot on. Countless others made by him being of similar caliber. Rob Reiner however was a really nice guy and I’m really sorry to hear the news.
Fantasy league:
Walk us through this. Assume you have a prod rate of the promised 7 flamingos a day by 1/1/26. By then you have 300+ in stock & the mapping issues sorted out
1)How do you use those 300? 2) One massive attack/one night? 3) What do you target/destroy? 4) What’s your modeled aftermath?
As it happens, just after reading this post, David Axe published an article where he explores whether the Flamingos may not be much more that an unfortunate hoax. I’ve found Axe to be a very serious journalist and his work well researched . Any thoughts on Axe’s take? bsky.app/profile/davi...
The client’s name starts and ends with an “A”. It also has an “L” and likes the letters “G,E,R and I”.
Sorry if my math is wrong: but if every $1=$20 Billion in lost income, then $20=$400 Billion USD of annualized deficit, not $200B. Please keep me honest!
It’s not confidence. It’s malpractice. Unbelievable to me that they haven’t done it. If not now, when?
And they don’t all have to go to the front to be useful, btw
There’s got to be plenty or roles young, educated recruits could be extremely valuable in.
A real shame that they have dithered on this.
