The Canadian Coast Guard fired captain Lou Callaghan "on the grounds he 'willfully' ignored a distress call about a sinking boat in cold and choppy P.E.I. waters, according to a recently posted federal labour board decision."

Yeah, I had to set up a few hot keys to avoid that annoyingly incorrect default.
And as always, I don't care what you do in your personal correspondence. String 10 hyphens in a row if that makes you happy.
Reminder: There are right and wrong ways to punctuate in professional writing. When introducing a parenthetical aside or interjection, use an em-dash ( β ). Hyphens ( - ) join compound words. En-dashes ( β ) indicate numerical range. Multiple hyphens together ( -- ) do nothing.
