Maybe if there was actually a safe cycling connection, I might actually be able to obtain my burritos even more rapidly which would be a great quality of life improvement

Can we please make an exception for MY burritoβs taxi? Or maybe give it aggressive signal priority?
Merry crisis
I hope the procurement and construction process goes better than other jurisdictions Metrolinx has been inflicted upon π₯²
Yea thatβs part of the problem too. Many developers designed condominium and townhouse units that appeal to investors (small but maximized UPH) which investors bought up often in bulk, but now investors arenβt buying, and those looking to buy a principal residence want more livable units.
This is what I was thinking in my head when I was trying to figure out why Ontario does not permit red arrow aspects. How is a sign that says βleft turn signalβ better than just using red arrows?
We do, but we need them at prices people can afford and sadly thereβs still a significant mismatch between prices and peopleβs budgets. Sales will stay depressed like this until prices come down enough.
You need to find a more productive way to spend your time.
Correct.
I didnβt say cost to build the C.N. tower if you were to build it today.
If this parking garage really ends up costing $400 million, thatβs more than the cost to build the C.N. tower, adjusted for inflation. Imagine the real, beneficial city-building opportunities that money could go towards. Or helping with one of many ongoing crisesβ¦

Currently moving through the Canadian Shield/boreal forest of northern Ontario at a much more consistent speed than we managed west of Winnipeg.
Winnipeg is a slightly better stop. The station is quite lovely for one that only sees (4?) weekly departures. Once you step out of the station however, you are greeted by an 8-lane divided highway. Not the most welcoming environment.
Didnβt leave the train at Edmonton because of the late late arrival and this is the view of the city from the train. Sadly, the station is in the middle of a sparsely built employment area.
Made it to Jasper! Sadly, much of the townβs permanent residents are still living in temporary accommodations awaiting their homes to be rebuilt (not pictured too sad).
A small selection of photos taken through the window this morning
Embarking on the longest train journey of my life (so far).
VAN-TOR
Also really into these modal filters that also double as 3rd places. They were not well used this week (8Β° and raining every day) but some of them even have a small stage!
Iβm a really big fan of these roundabouts that are scattered around Vancouver. They were added into wider intersections and are very effective at slowing down cut-through traffic, while adding whimsy, tree canopy, and a little neighbourhood charm.
Shocking realization that this is the least windy, most comfortable part of my ride to the grocery store.
That fresh bike lane feeling
The back story on how the townshipβs boundaries came to be is positively stunning (source: Wikipedia)
Remember, Uber is an American company! Before requesting an uber, consider other options like bikeshare, public transport, or if you must, a local taxi.
Kingsville, ON greenhouse strawberries seem to be selling well at $6.99 (thatβs loblawsβs normal gouging), meanwhile few people seem to be buying the American field strawberries from California at half price ($2.99).
Just cancelled a bunch of American subscriptions:
- Netflix
- Disney Plus
- AppleTV
- Dropbox
& other phone app subscriptions
Good opportunity to review recurring subscriptions and see what you can live without! Can save some money too.
Speaking anecdotally from what Iβve been hearing from clients, they cannot sell condos right now, so if theyβve already got building permits and financing to construct what was intended to be condominium, theyβre finding rental sometimes pencils out better than sitting on vacant, entitled property
BREAKING: Ontario has lost the 2025 provincial election
Hamilton Bike Share is offering a $5 credit today to help folks get to the polls. Polls are open until 9pm so thereβs no excuse to not vote if youβre eligible!
Itβs troubling that so many havenβt. I donβt think people should have to actively search for this information. If we want people to vote, every eligible voter should receive the information card.
I went to advance polling because the dates/ times and locations were on the information card.
