If your words are so easily misunderstood then you have a communication issue.
Not sure why you need to accuse the pigeon of having a bad day. That’s weirdly off topic.
Gorgeous, really beautifully made.
Back to my usual fountain pens & craft discussion. I’ve had so many difficulties with BSKY, photos not posting, not seeing responses that I’ve about given up on it. I started making a Christmas calendar for my son so he can have a better sense of time passing. It’s taking longer than anticipated.
You have misunderstood me. This is not about censoring any adult. It’s about creating a method for social media companies to seriously consider their algorithms for kids. They refused to comply, so a ban was made. The issue currently is “proper” adult information does not get to them.
Thank you, I don’t take issue with verification. I take issue that BSKY is taking the easiest option to them with the highest risk to its users.
That’s criminal.
I didn’t survive the dot com era because I looked at that world and decided I’d burned out enough and wasn’t going back. AI bubble is being pushed so fucking hard and I cannot see any of these tech companies harnessing it for shit that would be useful to people. If it’s not useful it dies.
But of course AI is rubbish, and anyone looking at my account can easily work out I’m not 16.
All social media companies have a responsibility to protect children. If you disagree then you’re in the wrong place.
My argument is not about that, it’s how they’ve chosen to do it when they’ve had a year to think about it.
I’m making the argument that
a) AI is not useful in the slightest and
b) you can’t actually prove that all the data these tech companies have on us they’ll be willing to use to benefit the users.
You’re forgetting just how large and wide our digital footprint is.
Hence another data grab
I know, I’m Australian and I’m saying their methods are invasive. Everyone is crapping on about how wonderful AI is. Well here’s the perfect opportunity to use AI to analyse speech patterns and topics to determine age, without anyone having to give up sensitive personal data to untrustworthy tech.

I’m willing to bet they could figure out I’m not 16 just by aggregating the content I post and running it through a program to present a target demographic. They can use AI for everything but the bleeding fucking obvious it seems.
Yeah same same. I’m not giving them my cc details.
Sticks and stones and all that.
I’m so reluctant to scan my face anywhere online these days. That’s good to know however, if I change my mind.
CHAOTIC EVIL!!! I lean Chaotic good, I have a plan though.
I’m not about to lose all my personal data to this, just to use a sub par text app.
These are the options to verify my age on BlueSky. I will not be versioning manage via any of these methods, because firstly. I don’t want my facial data collected. Secondly I don’t use Stripe and thirdly, I won’t be giving my license ID to an American company. That’s ridiculous in this Trump era.
I didn’t buy it! I can’t get over how bad the label is.
And where are the rest of its legs?!
Chief question, why THAT angle?
It’s weird right?!
Esterbrook prototype Esties
Esterbrook prototype Esties
These are the Esterbrook prototypes from the #fountainpen Day sale. There were a tonne of issues with the website crashing and the warehouse sending incorrect pens to people. I received my pen just fine, but the resin is not as dark as it’s preserved in the promotional material, it’s still lovely.
It can be repaired. Just costs money.
Moments after I cleaned an old Parker vacuumatic, disaster. The vacuum stuck, I must have over depressed it. Bugger. I’m hoping my usual guy can save me. #fountainpens
#fountainpen friends, have you ever been put off by the artwork on an ink? I really don’t like this art and I love the ink based on the marketing swatches, but the bottle label gives me the ick. 😫
I really love these little toolboxes from Japanese company Toyo. I recently found the bonded leather inserts for them and I’m a very happy pen hoarder now.
