'Salisbury Cathedral.' (1936) Early in his career, Charles Ginner preferred to paint interiors and street scenes, but after WW1 turned his attention to meticulous study of landscape. Here he includes the Bishop’s Palace, built in 1220, the first structure to be built in the Close

There's a broken cuneiform tablet from the Old Babylonian period, nearly 4,000 years ago, which preserves a tiny portion of a dialogue between two friends.

It feels a bit like the conversations I've been having for the past week, so I wanted to share it.

Hi #EarlyModern Bluesky - did you know that someone brilliant has built working printing presses using Lego and they are trying to get enough supporters so that Lego will release it as a kit?

They look so cool!

reminder: for covid, you won't show pos for 36-48hrs after exposure.

if your flight's friday morning, testing = inaccurate anytime before saturday night (unless you're feeling sick sooner)

also why it's responsible to stay at home for a few days after events so tests+no symptoms can be verified.

A black and white line drawing. The image shows a giant snake with a swastika for an eye. The snake is being killed by two medieval style knights, there are three downward facing arrows piercing the snakes neck. The caption reads: Teamwork.

I really do wish games did demos these days. I've been really curious about Elden Ring lately (been in the mood for weird esoteric fantasy worlds) but I know i KNOW I'm not really good at 3d action games. $60 feels like so much whenI don't know if I will like the gameplay at all.

Photo of a gouache painting on a round canvas board. It is a painting study of frederick sandys' perdita from 1866. The painting is of a bust of a woman with fiery ginger hair wearing a flower crown. She looks to her right, and is surrounded by leaves and pink flowers.

Have you ever seen a book made entirely of silk? One item getting a lot of reading room attention recently is this "Livre de Prières." This book was manufactured with the Jacquard process, which relied on perforated punch cards to operate a loom, and is considered a precursor to early programming.

The American people now see Trump for who he is — a would-be dictator who does not care what Americans think or want, cares nothing about our Constitution or our laws, and sees himself as a kind of eighteenth-century king, with unlimited power to drag us into wars without the consent of the people.
