The TikTok ban includes CapCut. A WHOLE GENERATION of new storytellers under 18 use that for editing in animation, film, & socials. i work with underprivileged kids to make shorts: they didnβt know industry standard programs β cause they cost a TON both in hardware & software β they all used CapCut.

a foggy winter morning. the sky is purple and pink with a couple glowing clouds. the twilight hour casts a dusty lilac light over a dusting of snow across a field behind a small farmers' fence. a few semi-bare trees and bushes fade into the background.
ok it's been a rough start to the month here's a pink sky to cheer up the feed a bit #art

I just realized whenever I sing βDefying Gravityβ while working, I unfortunately sound like Eric Cartman. My mom was right when she stopped me from joining the school musical in middle school
AAAA I just got this!!! Pizza dude is a certified cutie and Iβm absolutely in love with the way you draw him!
Beautiful colors and rendering!!! AAAAA Iβm always excited to see your work!! >:D)))))
The thing you gotta remember about AI creating animation is that it doesnβt look good, isnβt fast and burns a lot of natural resources, but it is free, and itβs unable to tell the person with the shittiest ideas you ever heard βnoβ

an altered/edited screenshot of Studio Ghibli's Totoro, where instead of sister Sasuki and Mei, it's a ghibli-style Bluey and Bingo. In particular, the scene where they first discover their soot-sprite-infested kitchen

I kid you not, @itch.io has been taken down by Funko of "Funko Pop" because they use some trash "AI Powered" Brand Protection Software called Brand Shield that created some bogus Phishing report to our registrar, iwantmyname, who ignored our response and just disabled the domain

The secret to being successful as an artist... is to just make things you like.
Because success isn't the big job in the end, but genuinely enjoying your work. My big portfolio pieces from my professional jobs rarely give me the same joy looking back as, say, a sketch from the bus.
- Graduated art school!!!
- Started eating much healthier to the point itβs now a solid habit
- Made a ton of new artist friends! Many of which I care about very dearly
- Conquered art block by drawing fanart/fan animatics for one of my favorite shows. Itβs been keeping me happy ever since
Non-artists with no understanding of art have always had this need to βtriumphβ over artists. They envy that weβve honed a skill they believe is only a god-given talent, and so try to find any little thing to drag us down to their level. Theyβre insecure. They canβt believe people so talented exist
Iβm surprised Patea Maori Clubβs not on there cuz Poi E has been my morning motivator jam for a while

It really can't be stated enough how the AI craze is rooted deeply in utter vitriolic disrespect for the working class. Like I've seen multiple cases of this tech being marketed directly on sticking it to us filthy poors who want things like "benefits" and "fair pay for our labor"

Concept art from a pitched BATMAN BEYOND animated film by the directors of SpiderVerse.
βBefore we pitched, they warned us there is absolutely no way we can do a Beyond movie, but they loved our enthusiasm. We pitched the outline for the entire film, & what started as a never turned into a maybe.β
This is true. There were times Iβd have a comic or storyboard with looser drawing and a person would ask why itβs not βdone.β They donβt look a second longer to understand the artβs substance, in one glance all they care about is why itβs not fully rendered. This habit seems to be leaking into AI
I gotta confess, for years now I've had this gnawing feeling that for a lot of consumers (and even more publishers), all they look for in art is how "polished" it is, and it turns out it might specifically be only the really superficial markers of polish?
