Among the exempted are executive, administrative, and professional (“EAP”) as well as highly compensated employees (“HCE”). When it took effect on July 1, 2024, the DOL's new “Overtime Rule” significantly raised the minimum salary threshold for these employees.

The ruling in State of Texas v. Dep't of Labor impacts the entire nation because it prevents the Department of Labor's 2024 rule from going into effect.
