Itβs time for the Audio Developer Conference 2024. I will be giving a presentation tomorrow in the Inclusive Design Workshop. Maybe Iβll catch you there #ADC24
β¦a thousand cuts. Sorry for all my friends in the states today who hoped for a better outcome. Sorry to everyone in the world that will feel the wave of impact from this very sad moment.
Adi slightly smiling with their head tilted to the left, their dark brown hair is pulled up and away from their face, they are wearing oversized tortoiseshell glasses and a black tank top.
Hello! Not new here but some of you are - welcome β€οΈ
Iβm Adi (pronounced like the ady in shady). I lead all things accessibility at Ableton. I make music and have been known to talk too much. Recently Iβve been working on Live 12, Note, and Move. Previously associated with Samsung and GitHub. β¨
Canβt wait to show you what weβve been working on π www.ableton.com/en/move/

βYou never look bad when you are having funβ is a truth I want to teach my girls. I want them to choose fun every day and laugh at anyone who tries to stand in their way.
Honestly have laughed at your posts since the before times (pre-pandemic, maybe even pre-glitch). Massive respect for the post, the real question is can you even get any hotter and smarter? And is that fair on the rest of us if you do?
Open invite to join me for coffee in Berlin anytime π€β¨

Good morning from Berlin
Sure for a βlonger image descriptionβ you can do this, the issue is that in this case and in many other cases the additional information isnβt a description of the image. Long descriptions for alt text are to allow for more complex or content rich image descriptions.
Itβs a form of misuse of alt text that should be avoided at all costs. Whilst this example is pretty innocent and could be considered a nice βEaster eggβ of content it would be better placed in the original post text to not misuse the alt text field.
It also happens a lot and wastes a lot of time for folks using screen readers. The worst culprits are when brands add SEO terms into alt text on decorative images. Itβs disrespectful at the very least but hugely inaccessible in some scenarios where it can cause confusion and disorientation.
If you use a screen reader you might not want to skip alt text even when you think it is no longer contextually important just in case there is something there. Adding anything into alt text beyond a contextually correct and factual description reduces accessibility.
But please donβt stop sharing your wonderful art with us (words and pictures)
Hey @spacefag.bsky.social beautiful words indeed but next time you should post anything that isnβt descriptive text about the image outside the alt text to keep it accessible π
The view from Waschauer StraΓe Bridge. Looking over a railing and down the river, the sky above is blue with wisps of white clouds and the sun is reflecting off the river.
