The Seedy Sunday and Eco-Fair has forty plus groups, venders, workshops and demonstrations, this Sunday at the Parkdale Library.
Photo of four people packing seeds around a table in a cosy, warm atmosphere.
Our team has been packing up seeds to give away at Seedy Sunday on March 30 with @greenestcityto. Come say hi, it's looking to be an incredible day as well.
Imagine of a bowl of Blue Vervain seeds, bowl of seed packages and a sticker of the South Parkdale Community Pollinator Gardens logo.
In this workshop weβll be planting native plant seeds (that donβt need to be overwintered), annuals that pollinators love, some herbs and veggies.
Imagine of a tray of seedlings in a blue circle. Logo of the South Parkdale Community Pollinator Gardens with a purple coneflower, bumble bee and monarch butterfly.

Screen shot of petition to stop the removal on Ontario's bike lanes. On Nov 25, 2024, Ontario passed Doug Ford's Bill 212, also known as the "Reducing Gridlock,Savin You Time Act". This bill is not about solving the province's traffic issues. In fact, it's more likely to make our roads more congested and dangerous.

Itβs the start of #BlackHistoryMonth! This is a great time to read about Vernard Lewis, who is an entomologist working on #Blattodea, especially #termites. He recently retired after an illustrious career in #entomology! #28daysofBlackSTEMHistory ourenvironment.berkeley.edu/news/2017/07...
A tarot-type card that was pulled from a deck of cards about self-care and rest. It says "I trust myself more than capitalism"
I was invited to pull a card at a queer cuddle party. This felt just right.
Thank you for sharing this.

I'll never post photos of my big boobs here, I promise.
Great Horned Owl pair perched on a large branch, sharing a meal of what appears to be a smaller bird.
"Why did she fly into a tree? It didn't make sense. At the request of members of the Indigenous Land Stewardship Circle, photographers and @highparknaturecentre staff, @toanimalservices contracted an Arborist to climb White Pine, to offer Sema (Tobacco), wrap her body and carry her down so that we would know the likely cause of death. Through testing of her liver, it was determined that the cause of death was anticoagulant rodenticde"
"Some people think rodenticide is a synonym for rat poison but this story (and countless others) tells us this isn't true - rodenticides kill many beings not just rats Bait boxes like the ones seen in these pictures from High Park don't just attract rats, they also attract Gray Squirrels and Chipmunks. These relatives are food to Owl, Coyotes, Fox, Hawk and others. The poison accumulates in their bodies, and when they die, it accumulates in the bodies of the scavengers who consume them, Turkey Vulture and Opposum"
"We need to stop using rodenticides. This isn't a radical idea. The province of British Columbia banned its use in 2022 because it inadvertently kills owls among other wildlife. Please sign this petition. https://www.change.org/p/ban-rodent -poison-in-toronto-to-protect-our -ecosystem "
Screenshot of text "Many of you will recognize this Great Horned Owl. She lived in High Park for years. She, along with her mate raised many broods of owlets in stick nests in the tops of White Pine (also known as the Tree of Peace). She was a good mom, She was a loved community member. Ifyou weren't lucky enough to see her, you may have heard her hooting at dawn or dusk, calling to her mate or owlets On the morning of January 3, 2022, she was found dead way up in the branches of White Pine. |t appeared like she flew into the tree head first. Her mate, hooted for days, weeks, until his voice went hoarse, never receiving a response"

Very sad new today from @turtleprotectorstkaronto about a Great Horned Owl, a long-time resident of High Park. She died from secondary poisoning from rodenticide. Please sign and share the petition. We need to change these practices now.
This movie about solutions and hope for the climate and land was hosted by Green Thumbs Growing Kids and Compost Toronto last night. I highly recommend finding out where you can see it in your area!

Oh, I mean, mine hasn't bloomed at all! I grew it from seed, this summer will be its third year so hopefully something will happen!π€πΌ
Is this Purple Prairie Clover!? Mine hasn't bloomed quite yet.
Thank you
Is it possible to block everyone on this list at once, or does it have to be done individually?
Three gray-bown snowy owners with wide open beaks.
I agree, they are fluffy and white when they hatch, but after that they turn gray-bown.

@watchnature.bsky.social This is AI. Baby birds are typically brownish so that they blend into with their environments during this vulnerable stage of life. Snow owls are no exception.
Grow plants that are native to your area, get rid or green turf grass lawns, remove all invasive plants. It's highly rewarding.
