Feast your eyes on these beauties!
Iβm from Cleethorpes originally and I was very familiar with βkaliβ from the sweet shop, which was like a more solid form of sherbet.

A quick update for anyone who has preordered a copy of my new book Capture Spiral. Copies are expected to be received from the printer this week, and posted out ASAP thereafter. If you havenβt ordered a copy yet, and would like to, hereβs the link.

The Lincoln Imp
Combine that with stories about the Lincoln Imp and you could start to believe that the smell of sulphur in that part of England isnβt purely because of the drains.
I found my copy in a charity shop some years ago, for just Β£2. I didnβt realise at the time
a) quite what a bible it is
b) quite what a bargain that was
Iβm just reviewing a WIP, and by crikey, have I over-hyphenated! Oops, there I go again!

Stork Roofing mascot on some scaffolding
Itβs not a real stork, if youβre wondering.
I think I speak for the vast majority of my British countryfolk, when, in response to his recent remarks, I say to Mr. Trump: βif youβd be so kind, please fuck off and die soon, you bigoted, lying, murderous, syphilitic rapist and child molester. Thank you very muchβ.
Well, at least I was polite.
Stupid memory! I read a great quote recently and I canβt now remember the source. However, itβs good advice: write the kind of book that, in sixty years time, somebody will find at the bottom of a pile of books in a secondhand book shop, and think to themselves βthis is weird, Iβm gonna buy itβ.
Yes, have done. One or two I was already following, but not the vast majority. The more the merrier!
Thanks Rob! Could you please add me to the list if Iβm not on it?
A woman (Lesley) and her mother (Dorothy) in a hospital waiting room - a scene from the miniplay βAdam & Yvesβ
Looks like a theatre company will be acting out my short playscript βAdam & Yvesβ at a venue in Wimbledon on 31/3. More deets to follow - in the unlikely event youβre in the area on that date, and free, you might like to go along.
Iβll tell you a bad habit podcasters have. They start by saying βmy first guest needs no introductionβ and then proceed to give you
a lengthy verbal profile of their guest. So obviously you think they *do* need an introduction π€·
Plate glass edges
If anyone should ever ask me that age-old question βwhatβs your favourite colour?β, my answer would be βthat greenish colour that you can see along the edge of a sheet of plate glassβ. I mean it, it is.
One more - not really Cocteauesque but one of the best new tracks Iβve heard in a while. youtu.be/HsNtkIycfMk?...
Also this, in the Cocteau/Massive Attack middle ground. youtu.be/0xjHygbcHZk?...
This oneβs pretty good, although possibly more like Lush than Cocteaus. youtu.be/YQBUCt4XVdw?...
I spend my waking hours searching for bands and artists that sound a bit like Cocteau Twins, just to fill the void left by them.

As bad as things are right now, the thing that worries me the most is that, while a lot of people in the UK/Europe regard Trump as an aberration, what if what follows him is just as bad if not worse? What if itβs not a horrible blip?
Thatβs my feeling. The real story here is: βto what extent is this a part of an orchestrated campaign to reconfigure attitudes as a means of saving money?β Publishing the words of an eminent but elderly expert in a premeditated attempt to move the needle on the subject. Thatβs whatβs going on here.
Serious question for Reform supporters: given that you want to vote for the Party of Hate, which of these do you hate the most?:
a) immigrants / foreigners
b) liberal, educated people
c) everyone who isnβt you
d) (secretly) yourself
Tough choice I know, but give it a shot.
Lord Offord
Offord. Declined. The living embodiment of the contempt Reform UK has for Scotland. He looks like a semi-melted Gerry Anderson puppet. No, scratch that, Gerry Anderson puppets are infinitely more believable. He has the face of somebody waiting to have their arse handed to them on a plate.
Shabana Mahmood
Itβs giving βbaddie off of Blakeβs 7β.
The Witchβs Hat, a poem by Jez Conolly
#WorldBookDay is my flimsy excuse for sharing the poem that I read out at the Granite Noir Crime Writing Festival βInto the Darkβ event on 19/3.
Time to obliterate the relentlessly bleak world news with some excellent new music. Share a song thatβs been released in the last few weeks that makes you think people are still out there doing great stuff. youtu.be/HsNtkIycfMk?...
