It's tough but lovely!
It's tough but lovely!
That must be one of the best #parkrun finish line views there is! Today I discovered that I can run in the sling, but that running up a mountain after 5 weeks of no running is bloody hard work!
When I knew I'd need some time off running to fix my shoulder I set myself the target of getting to my 25 volunteer milestone. Ticked it off this morning tailwalking at my home #parkrun ๐
A bit of tailwalking tourism today at York Community Woodland #parkrun for a change of scenery.
Official Team GB Paralympic photo, with the the crests and everything, and a professional headshot, but it's for "Pickle, A Very Good Girl", who is a black labrador, with a hi-viz harness and a red collar.
Some of you like dogs, in which case you may appreciate that guide dogs of Team GB for the Paralympics get official photos
My search for low intensity things to get me out of the house took me to junior #parkrun this morning for a bit of marshalling. As someone with no kids it's not my normal habitat but surprisingly enjoyable!
My #parkrun volunteering today was tailwalking, chatting with another walker about our respective metalwork...
This local Wolfdog joined an Olympic ski event and triggered the finish-line camera. This is Nazgul. He snuck into a cross-country skiing sprint this morning and raced the homestretch with some competitors before being escorted home. 14/10 someone get him a medal
Happy pancake day to all who celebrate!
Sunshine! Back at #parkrun for one armed barcode scanning and token sorting. So nice to be out and about again!
One week post shoulder/hip surgery and my main achievements are showering, dressing, removing the dressings and not getting bored out of my mind... Trying to do easy walks to local coffee shops to get out of the house for a while!
Today's achievement was getting dressed and leaving the house. Shoulder and hip both sore, and getting dressed is much more complicated than it was when I was last in the sling back in summer! Too many layers...
Waiting for Mr Limb (brilliant nominative determinism) to insert some metalwork into my scapula...
An unexpectedly pleasant day let me get out for the sort of ride that reminded me why I do it. Time to hang the bike up for a while now though.
She was really good!
One last #parkrun before my scapula surgery. A gig in York last night (She Drew The Gun) meant we stayed over and ran there this morning, now time to rest the shoulder and get ready!
Agree. I don't like it anyway when riding as a solo female, but even more so at the moment when I have a shoulder injury that impacts my bike handling and I don't want to put anyone at risk.
That might be the giraffe that visited Roundhay last week!
A red squirrel with a white tummy and windswept ears stands on a branch against a blurry dark green background.
Happy squirrel appreciation day ๐ฟ๏ธ
As well as checking in on their squirrel cam this evening, the #Winterwatch team will share updates from otters, pine martens, wading birds and much more, so you can catch up with all your favourite creatures.

I've just made a couple of coach journeys through France and looking down into cars from a higher position made me wonder if France actually had mobile phone laws...
Given the choice of not enough sleep, or even less sleep and a bit of fresh air to wake myself up, I am the sort of person who chooses the latter... Last day of the conference survived and on the bus back to the airport.
Pre-conference run trying not to get too lost in the darkness!
No fog and a nice looking venue for the next few days
#parkrun event 700 at Roundhay had a random giraffe. My fastest time at the event since 2011, and my best ever age grade there. I'm so glad that my shoulder is broken in a way that doesn't stop me running!
Squeezing some gigs in before getting my shoulder pinned back together. First up, Dry Cleaning.
A white van parked fully across a footway, blocking it completely.
Just ban it. Stop this being socially acceptable FFS ๐คฌ
Stunning morning at #parkrun on the Roundhay winter course
I'm 5 months into a broken scapula and also don't recommend...
Having been advised by my consultant to do some research on (fairly unusual) potential surgery, I had to be VERY careful what I believed and dig into actual papers rather than the AI summaries...
