My job market talk coming out of grad school was about gender differences in STEM. Gelertner's explanation for observed differences served as a foil for the rest of my lecture.
WHAT IS THIS LANGUAGE HUGH! WHAT IS THIS LANGUAGE!
π£Please share: We are looking for a field assistant to join our team in studying #ruffs on coastal meadows at Botnian Bay in Finland. The job will provide fantastic insights into lekking behaviour and provide essential skills in field ornithology. Details here www.bi.mpg.de/2790786/2512...
Come join us for an exciting week of workshops. Next year will start on a high!!
web.hypothes.is
you just need to add the
comment:
type: hypothesis
to your quarto's yaml
I have tried 'hypothesis .is' with quarto and it works alright. Mainly for letting others have the Google Docs feeling and because it was easy to set up.
Shoutout to the team: @tubariz786.bsky.social , Julio Segovia and Meinolf Ottensmann.. and the awesomest supervisor @asanchez-tojar.bsky.social . The learning curve was steep and I have received only support and encouragement all the way!
All the open science knowledge and training I accumulated over the years, I did my best to apply it!
Find the pre-registration: doi.org/10.17605/OSF.IO/S7J6Z
The code and data are on Github: github.com/shreyadimri/...
And the manuscript is built with Quarto: shreyadimri.github.io/Green_Nest_M...
Experimental design was a strong predictor of heterogeneity.
We challenge the idea that aromatic compounds alone can explain the fitness benefits of green nest material. We found no overall evidence that green nest material lowers parasite or pathogens in the nest!
Results: Nests with green nest material addition had higher fitness outcomes. The results were robust to several sensitivity analyses. Heterogeneity was has, and we found a strong predictor of it.
New Pre-print Alert βΌοΈ Fascinated by bird nests? Me too!!
Some birds add fresh green plants to their nests, even after laying eggs! πΏ Could this behaviour have benefits?

Why do birds use green nest material?
Interested in simulating the kind of data that you might commonly find in evolutionary and ecological studies?
Then we have the R package for you - squidSim!!

How may I invite myself for such a talk? And will there be cat(s) featured in the talk?
Talked about our project on birds nesting behaviour! I experimented with illustrating the slides and enjoyed it so much! What an amazing 6 days of exciting talks, posters and meeting friends old and new! It's a wrap #Behaviour2025
Thank you so much Alfredo, you are an amazing supervisor!
It was an amazing experience talking about all that makes me excited. Heart-warming feedback from the participants and my favourite is "Now I know what a meta-analysis is and everything it is not!" and it summarises what I wanted to achieve in 4.5 hours of this workshop! #Behaviour2025

After checking the Wiki Link and reading "was still amply provisioned when found".. sounds like a great place to be! π
Love the set-up, especially the mouse!!
Hello here, I have decided to join back on socials again after a long long break!
I will be giving a very exciting workshop on systematic reviews and meta-analysis pre-conference. If you will be around for Behaviour 2025, check it out!
