social media is one major way i stay informed and i've noticed less discussion of palestine here than on twitter, so unfortunately this doesn't surprise me. not in any rush to fully abandon twitter yet because of this.

today is a good day to listen to the shadow of the erdtree original soundtrack and vibe
is this because they both have spiders
very stressful week having to worry about my future ๐ตโ๐ซ anyone got some game recommendations to take my mind off of things?
i love taking a break from scrolling through social media on my computer at my desk by scrolling through social media on my phone in my bed
one nice thing about being split between here and twitter is that i can have twitter for all of the anxiety-inducing stuff and just post here if i want things to be chill.
dear god i want this election to just be over already. i've made the awful mistake of scrolling discourse on twitter the last few days and it is all insufferable.
anyways free palestine
xenoblade chronicles 1's soundtrack always manages to find its way into my recommendations when i'm feeling low. certain tracks have a powerful effect even now. hard to feel too bad about my life while i'm listening to "the fallen land."
tried a bit of the monster hunter wilds beta and had a better time than with my very brief stint with rise but overall i still feel like the entire user interface and experience is too overwhelming for me. at least i felt like i knew how to play this time!
i feel like if you start a conversation with me you should actually be prepared to hear my take. like why even waste both of our time if you didn't actually want to hear what what i had to say???
and we see this not just in the vague notion of personality but in the fact that even after the charm breaks, ansbach still uses bloodflame incantations of the formless mother, nor does he express horror at being forced to kill innocent people when he was under miquella's influence.
the point i'm making isn't "the charm had no effect" it's that these characters do not undergo a fundamental personality shift. all that changes is who they work for. mohg was likely still willing to do all the murder and cult stuff before the charm.
all that really changes about ansbach when he's charmed is his allegiance. even in that state he still doesn't trust miquella, even if he doesn't know why. that's why he keeps trying to learn more about miquella and his true intentions while charmed.
i'm so nostalgic for a world i barely actually explored the first time around. more evidence that monolith soft are the greatest to ever do it
ansbach is the character that made people get a lot of weird ideas about how charms work and i still feel like i'm the only one who paid attention to his dialogue sometimes. he's still friends with freyja after the charm breaks and it seems like a lot of people didn't ask themselves why that is.
then again i don't know how much clearer the DLC could have been that people who are charmed are still fundamentally the same people they were before the charm, rather than pretending they got a lobotomy or however people rationalize the idea that mohg was secretly a great and noble hero.
twitter is reminding me that the real issue with shadow of the erdtree's writing is that it accidentally gave way too much ammunition to people who wanted their favorite demigods to be innocent and morally pure by allowing them to blame it all on miquella
can it be march already i really want to play the game that i literally already own on a console i still have but am too lazy to ever turn on (xenoblade chronicles x)
what game would be xenoblade chronicles bluesky?
remembering xenoblade 3 is crazy because xenoblade 1 feels like that kind of game any sequel would inevitably live in the shadow of (basically what happened to 2 and X for me) and then for no reason at all 3 decided to be so good that i can't decide which one i like better.
in that rare state where i don't know what game i want to play anymore. xenoblade x remaster is tempting me to finally play the xenoblade 3 DLC
i live here btw
i hope to make a part of a game someday that utilizes music as well, as expertly, as the Eurydice moment of Hades
listen to eigong's theme enough times and you'll be filled with a burning desire to play nine sols again. boss fight for the history books.
sometimes i forget if i'm scrolling on bluesky or twitter. can't tell if that's good or bad for this site.
Armored Core 6 is a game about 30-40 various "holy fuck" moments but I think "I won't miss." is maybe top 5 all-time things I've seen in a game ever.
it just doesn't hit the same way when there are special "restored" weapons but you can still fuse things to them. either add some trade-off or don't compromise the cohesiveness of your design.
this is kind of how i feel about the restored weapons in the depths too. as stupid as "all weapons in the world are decayed and are barely usable without fusing" was, it was remarkably intuitive and i think really fits tears of the kingdom's aesthetic.
i think the story around the master sword and zelda's role in restoring it is probably tears of the kingdom's strongest concept narratively but i think it was a missed opportunity not to have it stay broken and you can only use it effectively by fusing things to it like other weapons
