Crap my various rightwing/neo-liberal/old and racist acquaintances and family have said to me. Mainly Aotearoa NZ and UK focussed. Persons of a leftish persuasion feel free to jump in and refute any of the bigotry, misinformation and drivel here!
Another bleat from the UK. Apparently there's now a large "green levy" on electricity which is being used to fund Blackrock investments swooping in and buying farms to fill with solar panels. Farms which have been prevented from being passed to the next generation by prohibitive inheritance taxes
"David Attenborough should retire already. He's about 100 years old and keeps saying the same thing!"
Translation: David Attenborough keeps on about ecological destruction and the climate emergency and it's getting annoying
I excluded that person from my life as well. That was just the pinnacle of the toxic rhetoric, it'd ben building up for a while.
"Transgender people are all deluded"
This was a direct attack on a transgender acquaintance, from a Posie Parker supporter, but this was said by someone who **is herself** a member of the LGBT+ community!!
One that was very difficult to absorb without resorting to violence:
"If Hamas will stop fighting, it'll be the end of the war. If Israel stops fighting, it'll be the end of Israel."
This from the same GB-news-sucking mouth that suggested the ultimate solution was to bomb gaza out of existence.
"Starmer was democratically elected so it's no use complaining."
Translation: "So was superhero trump, so if I shut up about Starmer, you don't have any right to complain about Trump!"
Another:
"Who'd want to live in Εtaki? It's a weird place. Full of Maoris"
Starter to get the ball rolling:
"Celebrities should keep their political opinions to themselves!" says a rightwing acquaintance.
Translation: Celebrities should keep their left-leaning liberal opinions on Social Justice to themselves and let us get on with demonising minorities!
