When you hear your four year is being bad or mean at daycare, it’s hard not to take it personally and feel like you’re failing him. Just trying to raise a kid who is kind and good.

Ravi: what’s that?
Me: when you make money and the government takes it from you. If you made money & we take the money for no reason.
Ravi: I can’t buy toys or candy cause the government took my money. That’s not fair, the government is stupid.
Me: I agree
Had another fun Holi celebration in the neighborhood! It’s the third one I’ve hosted in this neighborhood and the fourth one I’ve done since Ravi has been born. I love celebrating my culture with the boys and introducing this fun holiday to friends!
Ran two miles, did 50 sit-ups, 25 push ups, and 50 squats. Slowly working my way up to do the Murph workout at the end of May!
Ravi also did 10 reps of each exercise with me ❤️
It also makes me realize Sanjay Leela Bhansali is my favorite Indian director and in my top five directors of all time. He’s a mix of Baz Luhrmann and Christopher Nolan. When Baz Luhrmann made Moulin Rouge, he studied Sanjay Leela Bhansali films and has been a huge fan of Bhansali.
If I want to listen to songs that sound Western, I’d listen to American songs, but when I want to connect with my culture and history, I love listening to albums like Kalank, Bajirao Mastani, and Goliyon Ki Raasleela Ram-Leela.
I’ve been listening to a lot more Hindi albums from films recently and I realized some of my favorite songs and albums are the ones that have the traditional Indian songs and sounds. I especially love the albums that have the Mughal and Sufi influence.

Happy Holi! Holi is the Festival of Color & it celebrates the beginning of Spring in India & victory over evil. It’s also an occasion to reset & renew ruptured relationships & end conflicts.
Can’t wait to celebrate with friends! It’ll be Arjun’s first time, last year I was pregnant with him!

Ravi: Indians? Like you, me, and Arjun?
Me: no, I’m from India. And you two are part indian cause of me. The Indians in the book are natives, a different type of Indian. I’ll explain when you’re older.

His brother is his favorite person and likes to chase Cassie around. He also likes to splash in Cassie’s water bowl if we leave it out 🤦🏾♀️😂
Happy 9 months to our Arjun-man!
He’s standing up on his own and still crawls everywhere. He loves food and will get mad if you are eating food without him. He will wake up from a nap if he hears a chip bag opening 😂😩
Reached my move goal 2,250 times!
Ravi: like I do with Amaya, I say do you want to be my friend and she says yeah, and then we play!
Me: exactly, I’m sure the new kid just wants to fit in and make friends so you could try being his friend.
Christopher: do you like the new kid at daycare?
Ravi: no
Me: why not?
Ravi: cause he cries & yells
Me: maybe he’s scared and misses his parents. Some kids have a harder time adjusting to a new place. You’re older so you could say hi & ask if he wants to play. You can also show him what to do there.
Ravi: I’m going to be taco ravioli. That’s going to be my new nickname.
Me: don’t you mean tacoli?
Ravi: yeah, tacoli the Calton the first
Our house is never dull with him. I’m sure brother will be the same way.
Ravi: I want Chewbacca (star wars night light)
Me: ok, there’s chewy.
Ravi: chewy?
Me: that’s his nickname. Like your nickname is ravioli
Ravi: everyone has a nicname?
Me: no, not everyone. Some grownups do. You can choose to keep your nickname when you’re an adult.
Two months down of running every day. Even when I was sick, tired, had a headache, or just wanted to be lazy and not workout, I pushed myself. I also started training for the Murph workout.
Nothing like waking up to the US and Israel attacking Iran. It’s ridiculous how much the US bends the knee to Israel. Israel says jump, the US says how high.
As a millennial I’m so sick of another unconstitutional war that will bring further economic collapse. This is all my generation knows.
I feel like I have the weight of the world on my shoulders and it’s so heavy. I just want to be happy again.
Trying to be a good mom is hard.
Trying to be a good wife is hard.
Trying to be a good friend is hard.
Trying to be a good person is hard.
I struggle with these every day. I know I’ve hurt people in the past and every day I try to do better.
Ravi has graduated from Beginner I to Beginner II in his swimming classes. I’m so proud of my little guy. He was scared at first when he started classes but he’s come a long way and loves going to the classes.
Find a someone who looks at you the way Cassie looks at our youngest. He’s been sick and when he cries or coughs, she comes running and doesn’t leave his side until he falls asleep or she knows he’s okay. She loves her baby.
Spent the morning at urgent care for Arjun. He had a fever and constant cough, luckily tested negative for RSV and the flu. Was up for a few hours at night with both sick boys.
Ravi seems better and doesn’t have a fever which is good.
Ravi has tested positive for RSV, they gave him a steroid at the hospital and we’re waiting just have to monitor him to make sure it doesn’t turn into pneumonia. Also have to keep him away from Arjun since RSV is very serious for infants.
