And of course I made this game so it's buggy as heck. Thank you to Tyler and @bigbut5.bsky.social for helping test and report issues.
Also a shoutout to the rest of the discord community who playtested and gave feedback across production.

Next up @alexsteacy.bsky.social who did some rad illustrations for the Feudostates propaganda.
First off @mitchellpasmans.bsky.social fucking killed it on the sound design. Honestly half this games vibe is just the layers of ambience and sfx.
If you pick up the game please consider leaving a review, every one helps the game find it's audience.
Now that I've had moment to catch my breath I'd also like to thank everyone who helped on this project.
don't tell @blacksaltgames.com
@adzuken.bsky.social hauls up quite the catch in her review of Crabmeat, a game that she describes as having a breathable horror atmosphere.

I couldn't find your email so I sent you a code through the curator system. Hope that's ok.

πShort 2-3 hour experience
The steam curator spammers are now getting as brazen as to ask for 2-6 keys.
Does this mean that the value of our keys is so little they need to get 6 just to make a buck with the grey market value?
That's a commitment to realism
I use the post effect in this package in Crabmeat but also do a custom worldspace version in some contexts

This one seems better for ongoing URP support as the SC one will be deprecated in 6.5 i think

That effect of light coming through the water, really sells the wateryness of a scene
Can we get some caustics in this water?
This is why I don't work on car software. I did this in an alternate reality.
Just one more sleep
Soon
Thanks. My first release since 2023 so I'm pretty nervous.
If it's not obvious I'm not at GDC this year. Instead I am launching my game in ~23 hours.
The monkeys paw of function calls
You can tell the game is almost cooked and ready to serve to your dinner guests by the approximate torrent of key spammers emails in your inbox.
A dark and grainy horror gameplay screenshot from a first-person perspective. The playerβs flashlight barely illuminates the scene, revealing a giant, monstrous crab entity looming in the center of the frame. The creature has multiple thick, hairy legs and a distorted, unsettling face that is mostly obscured by the darkness, staring directly toward the viewer. The background is pitch-black, suggesting a tight, oppressive space. The entire image has a red, veined vignette border and a digital glitch effect applied to it, enhancing the atmospheric dread.
Crabmeat tomorrow? More like "Crab Debt Horror." π¦π
Honestly, the concept of owing a debt to a kingcrab catching company sounds absolutely unhinged and Iβm here for it. Is this the 2026 indie meta we didn't know we needed? lol
How much do you owe the company? π

Crabmeat's come a long way in 11 months

Putting the Crabmeat demo out with its frankly unhinged controls has been an enlightening experience in seeing this attitude (the Reddit poster) reflected right into my eyeballs.
Makes sense. The game's looking great!
