We had a gully washer of a rain storm for Summer Solstice this year. It made me so happy. ❤️ I wish I could share with you how amazing our backyard smells right now. One of my favorite smells on this earth is a forest in the rain after a dry spell.

Yep! SW Washington. I’ve been “leaving the leaves” since we moved in three years ago. It makes my neighbors nervous because of the wildfire risk (we live in a protected forest easement along a greenway that caught fire two summers ago). But I’m trying to restore the soil, which is like concrete.
I find it hilarious that Trump is calling for unity. Puuuuhleeeze.

A small, brand new trillium plant with three bright green leaves but no flower grows up through a carpet of big leaf maple leaves and Western red cedar fronds in front of a weathered, natural wood fence.
