What does it say about me that I’m having the exact opposite reaction to these photos?
I would love to tour this home, and this decor would make my husband and me *more* likely to put in an offer… 😬

priest + PhD student studying disability, demons, monsters, and magic in the NT and early Christianity. I find a typo in every single thing I read (she/her) “Then God gives a command, and the ice melts ...” (Psalm 147:18)

I think the most defiant thing we can do is continue to dream about ways to care for each other!
Well we wouldn’t want to accidentally let an *undeserving* person use the bathroom. In this country we *earn* our right to basic decency!

This is really beautifully said. Thank you.
You seem to have missed the point of this beautiful thread. It may not be for you, and that’s ok! You can keep scrolling.
Non-academic people keep asking me if I’m gonna use ChatGPT to help me with my dissertation.
And like… for so many reasons no, but mainly because it *is not able* to help me with my dissertation.
GenAI seems to be marketed towards folks who would like to or need to upskill but cannot (for whatever reason) while those who use it possibly cannot see how it effectively deskills and/or infantilises them.
recently my friend's comics professor told her that it's acceptable to use gen AI for script-writing but not for art, since a machine can't generate meaningful artistic work. meanwhile, my sister's screenwriting professor said that they can use gen AI for concept art and visualization, but that it won't be able to generate a script that's any good. and at my job, it seems like each department says that AI can be useful in every field except the one that they know best. It's only ever the jobs we're unfamiliar with that we assume can be replaced with automation. The more attuned we are with certain processes, crafts, and occupations, the more we realize that gen AI will never be able to provide a suitable replacement. The case for its existence relies on our ignorance of the work and skill required to do everything we don't.
it’s come to my attention that my tumblr post has been crossposted to bluesky, so I’m posting it on my account here #AntiAI #GenAI
Just thinking about what MAGA would say about me if the secret police shot me in cold blood one afternoon when I was driving around with toys in my car for my kid. Hbu?
The people who mock gender studies are perversely the most compelling case for studying it
If you’re more offended by a politician saying the F-word publicly than you are by ICE murdering a woman, you need to fix your heart.

Coming tomorrow to #SCS2026: "Touch Across Time: A Crip Reading of the Anatomical Votives at the Corinth Asklepieion" by me!
So excited to get to share this project. So nervous to do it in a room full of classicists who know so much more about this time period than I do.
there is no reason for ICE to exist. immigrants aren’t doing anything wrong by trying to live and work and provide for their loved ones. I don’t care how people got here. if they want to be here that’s good. leave them alone.
I have a pastoral register book to keep track of my own ministry, and I changed one of the sets of pages to an “other duties as assigned” log for circumstances just like this.
I’m excited to one day reflect on a whole career of animal removals and spelunking through roof crannies!
Ban stock trading by lawmakers in Congress. Full stop.
All the words between the Sanctus and the institution are A SINGLE SENTENCE. It’s very hard not to stumble over the—I just counted them—15 commas and two semicolons, ok?? 😆
(Also this sounds very lovely to experience, and I’m jealous.)
I’m definitely stealing this idea next time I’m serving in a parish. Thank you!
Ooh I love this. Which ones did you start with?
I love test taking because I am very normal, and even I found the GOEs painful by the last day.
I actually liked each individual question; it was just a lot of a very specific type of attention over a long period. Praying for everyone taking them this year!
A holy, joyfully dense time. I’m praying for you as you prepare to make your vows and affirm the call that God has put in your heart!
Ooh I am so on board with this.
This is definitely a thing in some contexts (though not all, as you say).
The problem I run into with cultural stuff is the generational differences. I never know what people will know or not know, so I always proceed as if I’m introducing a reference for the first time.
The other thing about normalizing gAI use in higher ed is that we are teaching our students that they cannot trust their own creativity, their own thoughts and brains, their own skills without having it reshaped/shellacked/transmogrified by LLMs. We’re setting them up for failure and dependence.
Post a perfect album from the 90s that isn't nirvana, sound garden, pearl jam, or alice in chains.
It's instructive to ask what exactly it is the LLMs do very well. Produce fluent text and are useful for situations where there a near one-to-one mappings between sets of tokens (machine translation, converting code from one language to a other) but they are very lossy for information retrieval
Could you add the Rt. Rev Jeffrey Mello and the Rt. Rev Laura Ahrens, bishops of the Episcopal Church in CT?
On the plus side, though, gen AI garbage has made me almost entirely lose my taste for social media. It’s all slop. I can’t see updates from my friends. What is it for?
Done! 📕
That’s such a cool milestone! Congratulations!!
