No doubt there’ll be big complaints from the very people who bet a pony on the ‘orses.

Lib Dem Leader Ed Davey:
"Tax exiles like Isabel Oakeshott and washed up old footballers who mock ordinary people who stay in the UK and pay our taxes... As we protect them, it's only right for tax exiles to start paying taxes to fund our armed forces, just like the rest of us".
Add “evidently" when it isn’t at all evident.
@ottoenglish.bsky.social
Current most annoying PR speak.
“We don’t recognise…. ”
as in “We don’t recognise that description of our company.”
Great way round having to lie or acknowledge the truth.
#PRBullshit
The same tax-pats who now expect to be rescued by the British government using the taxes they didn’t pay.
Ah, the Taxpats.
(Not original - saw the term used on here.)
Well said, Sir.
Is this the #Farage and Reform Party who got £9m from a Thailand based donor?
Hypocrisy show thyself.
I thought I was listening to the Five Live Rant Line for disgruntled football fans.
Just as entertaining - and honest.
Photo of Yusuf at a lectern saying “shadow Home Secretary” (Wot?) Reform's plan for a 'British ICE' combines cruelty with stupidity
Project forward to 2036 under a majority Reform government and the picture darkens further. Britain would be smaller, older and whiter; more isolated from Europe; paradoxically, more vulnerable to foreign interterence and less able to fund its own defence. The welfare state would shrink to a skeleton. Charity would fill the gaps. Flags would proliferate; rights would not. The police and courts would be politicised. The BBC could disappear. The NHS would survive only as a minimal safety net. Protections against discrimination would erode - you might indeed be sacked for being disabled. Migrants and even their British-born children could find their rights curtailed unless they were deemed to "contribute" sufficiently. Meanwhile, the wealthiest would enjoy a generous, low-tax regime.
“Rarely has a British political party unveiled a programme that combines cruelty with impracticality on such an extravagant scale.”
Chilling on Reform’s increasingly confident fascism. High on viciousness and greed. Very low on wisdom. A ruinous combination.

I enjoy @therestpolitics.bsky.social and others from the #Goalhanger stable.
As a keen reader I might give the new #TheBookClub a go.
However, I see one of the hosts is Dominic Sandbrook.
One mention of Greeks or Romans, where not appropriate, and I’ll hit the off bottom. Forever.
The state of #BorisJohnson.
Last time I saw him he’d been on the weight loss jabs.
Hmm.
I don’t like body shaming as a rule but am happy to make an exception where Johnson is concerned.
He is devoid of shame anyway.
Caption: He thought it went very well.

Tomorrow’s Sun front page:
“Diana’s brother-in-law arrested"
NI payments? That’s for the little people.
No, he’s entitled to everything for free.
Probably expects them to throw in a couple of extra pensions for Sarah Ferguson.
#MountbattenWindsor
And on his 66th birthday too.
He became eligible for his state pension today.
Probably all he’ll have to live on once he gets out of prison.
Unless they strip him of that too….
Oh dear.
I knew of someone who had an extreme case of #measles as a child in the 1960s. It caused brain injury & developmental problems for life.
Parents, PLEASE get your children a proven, free vaccine. #MMR
Trust the people who daily care for others. #NHS
Not the anti-vaccine flat earthers.
Not forgetting the 15 million people who volunteer and give their time, skills and energies for the good of others.
He doesn’t even believe it himself. Just has to spout some #Reform bollox.
Perhaps he should move on to their ‘colonisation’ shit.
What say you, Nadhim??
BBC reporting the economic benefits of the Oxford to Cambridge Arc.
Including a rail link. Good news.
How long though before the #HS2
#battunnel brigade nimbies are out in force?
The whole rail plan will be scuppered because someone *walked his dog in a field earmarked for development.

Chris Mason is to Farage what Nicholas Witchell was to the Queen.
Sycophancy on stilts.
Seems crazy that Starmer should pay a price for the #Epstein scandal.
While, in the US, precisely no politicians or tech bros or indeed anyone else is in the firing line.
Bizarre.
Productive? Says the man who probably couldn’t find his constituency on a map…
…of Clacton.
Oh. You mean there are difficult choices in real life politics.
Not just simple slogan answers to everything.
#Reform
Do you mean aluminium?
No surprise that the grifters, morally corrupt and traitors were attracted to the #Epstein pile of shit.
Like flies.
#TheEpsteinFlies
#TheEpsteinClass
MAGA, Tech bros, Big money,Grifters, Russians ….and #Brexit
A swamp.
We should fund political parties. Unpalatable I know, but at least it isn’t corrupt.
While we’re at it:
1. Why are all MPs paid the same? In what other work is a newbie paid the same as someone with 20 years experience? Link pay to NHS or teaching etc.
2. Lords should sit for 15 years max.
Is fluent Portuguese a requirement?
2006.
The year my employer got a government contract under #AccessToJustice (yes! It really existed) to provide support to families.
We helped 5,000 families in turmoil. Worked our socks off.
2013 - totally decimated by #austerity.
Service closed.
Poorest families hit hardest. Yet again.
