Since 2021, global media coverage of climate change has dropped 38%. Major broadcast networks in the U.S. cut their climate coverage 35% compared to the year before. Blame wars, political chaos, and Jeffrey Epstein. grist.org/language/glo...

Palantir CEO Makes Shocking Confession on Disrupting Democratic Power They’re saying the quiet part out loud now.

Palantir CEO saying the quiet part out loud: β€œThis technology disrupts humanities-trained - largely Democratic- voters, and makes their economic power less. And increases the economic power of vocationally trained, working-class, often male, working-class voters.” #AI newrepublic.com/post/207693/...

Rate hike forecasts surge one week out from RBA meeting Two of the country’s biggest banks have predicted the Reserve Bank will jack up interest rates in response to ongoing high inflation and the oil price shock.

Meanwhile, Australian energy companies are making windfall profits. Time for a windfall tax.

Right: Angus Taylor, the new leader of the Liberal Party of Australia.

I think the Liberals may want to check Angus’ eligibility to sit in Parliament: he may be a dual citizen. #auspol #libspill

Vance pitches critical minerals trade zone to counter China At a meeting with foreign allies, the vice president urged them to lock in co-ordinated trade rules that would offer price guarantees for new sources of minerals.

β€œMarket failure” suddenly matters when it’s about critical minerals. Price floors, guarantees, trade rules, etc. But when labour prices plummet this is accepted as an outcome of supply and demand. Minerals get protection from volatility; workers are told to absorb it. 🀑

The abduction of NicolΓ‘s Maduro marks a grim threshold. If a head of state can be seized with impunity, then the international rules-based order (what was left of it) is dead. The statements by Trump about access to Venezualan oil shows that this is US imperialism asserting itself without disguise.

Workplace intervention at UTS is great news for KPMG The big four consulting firm scored a $180,000 per week contract extension, to finish work it had already been paid $4.8 million to do.

UTS has KPMG on retainer for $180,000 per week for work it was meant to complete in the original $4.8 million contract.

KPMG gets $180,000 a week. The same amount gets you a lecturer and tutors for an entire year!

Incompetence of UTS 'leadership' and utter governance failure. #auspol #highered

Gulf Stream collapse could start by 2060, Dutch researchers warn The Gulf Stream, a system of ocean currents that plays a crucial role in the climate, may reach an irreversible point of collapse much sooner than previously thought. Previously, scientists thought th...

With moderate CO2 emissions, the tipping point will be reached at around 2063. With high emissions, the collapse could begin as early as 2055.

This leads to additional sea level rise, more storm surges, and agricultural yields will decrease by about 1/3. And all of that will last for centuries.

Drunk on their own impunity they take us all for fools. They mock humanity itself. Hell is not hot enough for these monsters.

Call for 'death tax' to help Australia raise $70 billion

Fear mongering - for a second I thought I was reading Murdoch media. An inheritance tax on the very wealthy to reduce inequality should not be dubbed a 'death tax', just to get some extra clicks. This won't impact the inheritance of the bulk of Australians, and it is a sensible policy idea. #auspol

Anas al-Sharif Was My Friend. Here’s Why Israel Feared Him So Much. I met Anas al-Sharif during an Israeli siege of a hospital. The Al Jazeera journalist grew to be my mentor β€” and my friend.

New U.S. Report on Israel's Human Rights Abuses Is 91 Percent Shorter Clocking in at nine whole pages β€” down from 103 in 2024 β€” the new State Department human rights report is β€œfunctionally useless.”
