Neguse demolishes Noem (2/2)
"Every gun that is made, every warship launched, every rocket fired signifies, in the final sense, a theft from those who hunger and are not fed, those who are cold and are not clothed."
-Dwight D. Eisenhower, 1953
Local zoning is the way! A lot of these are being stopped or stalled by neighborhood organizing.
These warehouses often need to be purchased, permitted, approved for occupancy and specs. Each one of those steps can be interrupted.
Ppl are pressuring corps not to sell, counties to deny permits, etc
Article about HHS Secretary Tom Price resigning because of his private jet travel
Unease about the abuse of the jet is not new. For example, a former FBI leader, William Sessions, was fired by President Clinton when it was adjudged he had used the jet for personal use. And yet: Patel has used the jet for recreational purposes, including golfing outings in Scotland, hunting trips to (Iβm not making this up) Boondoggle Ranch in Texas, or heading to the Olympics in Italy to watch ice hockey. His multiple trips to Nashville, where his girlfriend resides, has drawn the most coverage.
I'm not claiming the first Trump administration was a model of ethical behavior, but there is just a deep sense in the second term that the guardrails are gone, the boss doesn't care, and its grab-whatever-you-can time

I am not going to repost the vile and racist image that Trump posted last night of President & First Lady Obama because it is beyond disgusting. Trump is a vile racist as is every Republican that continues to support him. I donβt want to hear mumbling from Mike Johnson or stoic silence from Thune.
The Trump Administration wants us to think of Trump's racism as a character flaw grandpa sometimes sadly lets express itself too aggressively, when the reality is that the white nationalism is the governing, organizing logic of his administration that all Republicans are complicit with.
Letβs make it viral folks. Thank you @histoftech.bsky.social.
Black History Month is a time to recognize the lived, shared experience of all Black folks who have fundamentally shaped, challenged, and ultimately strengthened America. Itβs about taking an unvarnished look at the past so that we can create a better future.
Congress cannot and should not fund a government that is acting like a paramilitary force and violating peopleβs constitutional rights.
Imagine whatβs happening in the camps.
I am trying not to post on these events in this state of mind but: I hope people understand what the observers are doing is brave and dangerous.
On the execution in Minnesota: Obviously, the individuals involved should be held accountable. But responsibility goes to the top of ICE and CBP, and DHS. Their appropriations come up next week in the senate. Not a cent for DHS without pulling ICE and CBP off the streets, in MN and everywhere else.
To repeat: Abolish ICE.
Governors and mayors and courts that do not take immediate action to stop ICE, to expel it from our cities and towns, to hold it accountable for its crimes, to ensure it works within the law, are failing at their jobs. It will require strength and confrontation and struggle. But it must happen.
We owe an incredible debt to the Minnesotans who are on the streets protesting and documenting what is happening.
Abolish ICE and primary any Democrat who wants to give a cent to these murderous thugs terrorizing American communities.
In October, ICE grabbed Maher Tarabishi.
He was a 24/7 caregiver for his disabled son Wael.
At the time of Maherβs detention, disability advocates warned that taking away Waelβs caregiver put his life at risk.
Wael died on Friday at age 30.
ICE caused his death.
They didnβt get to say goodbye.
AOC: An agency that is attacking U.S. citizens, kidnapping five-year-olds and using them as bait, and privately circulating the idea that they can violate the rights of Americans by busting down their doorsβthey deserve to be defunded, and Iβll take any step in that direction.
The DJT regime has declared war on an American city.
This isn't about protection.
Or immigration.
Or policy.
Or crime control.
It's about fear, violence, brutality, repression, and control.
WE ARE ALL MINNEAPOLIS.
Stand up and speak out.
Open BlueSky, & donβt know if Iβm looking at footage of Iran or Minneapolisβ¦
Senate Democrats absolutely have to shut the govt down to stop this ICE insanity in the Twin Cities. This is not sustainable & cannot be normalized. Any Democratic vote to provide money to the thugs who are brutalizing this community is a grave betrayal to the people here. Accountability can't wait.
there is no coming back from this without prosecutions up and down the entire chain of command
Its not that the media is not covering what is happening, but it does feel like the military occupation of an American city should be treated as a national crisis.
I've been thinking about this child all day ... and my children.
What is the country we will leave to them?
Arrest the murderer and arrest Bovino. Not complicated.
AOC: This has now become what we feared most about ICE for a long timeβthat it would be used as an anti-civilian force with no accountability. At the end of the day, what we saw today was a murder, and murders in cold blood need to be prosecuted.
AOC: What we saw today was a criminal murder a woman while she was trying to flee for her life. What we saw today was a manifestation of every Americanβs worst nightmare: their government turning into a tyranny.
The destruction doesn't make for a photo-op like tearing down the East Wing of the White House or bulldozing the Rose Garden, but it's every bit as bad. Generations of American children learned to spell and count, learned the Preamble to the Constitution, from watching shows produced by the CPB.
The corruption in the Epstein files.
The testimony of Jack Smith.
Murder on the open seas.
The five-year anniversary of January 6.
THEYβRE STILL HERE
Though they want us to forget.
In a telephone interview this morning with The Atlantic, President Donald J. Trump issued a threat against Venezuelaβs Interim President Delcy RodrΓguez, saying that, βif she doesnβt do whatβs right, she is going to pay a very big price, probably bigger than Maduro,β adding that he would not stand for RodrΓguezβs βdefiant rejectionβ of military intervention by the United States. Additionally, during the interview, President Trump reaffirmed that Venezuela may not be the last country subject to American intervention, or even that it would remain isolated to Latin America, clearly stating, βWe do need Greenland, absolutely,β while describing the island which is a part of Denmark, a close-ally and member of NATO, as βsurrounded by Russian and Chinese ships.β
