Woke up to my blooms swaying in the breeze this morning! This last blast of humidity coupled with warm sun bought them out. I am thrilled. I wonder what colour will bloom next. I have come to love dahlias.

Fantastical animal figures and a white wall. Acrylic on burlap. Experimenting with just daubing stuff on a surface without planning it out much. I started this before the etched plate I posted yesterday, so I harvested the stylisation of Kantali I came up with here for the plate.

I forgot to take a photo of the cinnamon bun popcorn before I packaged it up last time. Had to make more for the friends and family trays, so here it is waiting for the white chocolate to set.

The rote activity of washing takes me miles away, and in that sweetest dream the music like a hand-embroidered counterpane—each note within the melody a cipher to be read and kept concealed. That we communicate at all is half mistake. I turn the thick LP, listen to the piano, all the silences it leaves— the hiss and crackle whispering of things so old they beggar history: a sound like fire in fields of wheat, the wind at sea. I won an award! At this year's Dutch Psychonomic Society meeting @brain-cognition-nl.bsky.social I was awarded the dissertation prize for the best PhD thesis from the past two years. It was great fun and a huuuge honor!!

My Heart I'm not going to cry all the time nor shall I laugh all the time, I don't prefer one "strain" to another. I'd have the immediacy of a bad movie, not just a sleeper, but also the big, overproduced first-run kind. I want to be at least as alive as the vulgar. And if some afficionado of my mess says "That's not like Frank!", all to the good! I don't wear brown and grey suits all the time, do I? No. I wear workshirts to the opera, often. I want my feet to be bare, I want my face to be shaven, and my heart -- you can't plan on the heart, but the better part of it, my poetry, is open.
