Had to repost since it is bananas, but also pretty cool, and something I've thought about doing before... (though with different drone noises I've found in the wild) youtu.be/L3HbX7tiZ1o?...

Thought I could stitch together a mega interface with Expert Sleepers ES-9, MacoOS, and modular synth with Audio Hijack, but that ended up introducing a huge amount of latency. However, just using MacOS's built in aggregate device cut the round trip ES-9 latency to about 8 milliseconds.
New version also has support for DXF and SVG export for laser cutters... (not tested)
Added a link to my diy eurorack case builder/planner to intafon.com, but here is a shortcut: github.com/intafon/diyE.... Working on a v2 alpha version with 1U support now. (done but needs testing, anyone who wants to alpha test let me know and I can DM you a link)
Advantage of getting to work absurdly early is getting to watch the moon set behind the hills/mountains west of Tokyo.
I know it’s a feature, but social media apps switching the displayed content every fucking time you switch back and forth between the app and another is a bullshit feature.
On an email this morning from Small Bear Electronics, went down a mini rabbit hole to check out differences between all the Big Muff fuzz pedals (like Civil War Russion, Green Russian, Elk Sustainer, etc., so many!). There are websites out there you should support instead of AI summaries!
Tip: when using bitand~ for bitmasking and other bitwise operations with signals in max, you may want to use “@mode 1”, which converts both incoming signals to integer. Otherwise you may get unexpected results. #maxmsp #maths
How else would you know?
Wonder if it is possible to raise a billion dollars in a go-fund-me. Considering a position on the board.
My challenge to everyone this new year: find a new word to describe your process of change or evolution. Stop overusing the word “journey”!
What happened with instagram posts? I can only see back a year of posts now...
Dune, except replace water with GPUs. He who controls the funding round controls the universe. Many datacenters on Ix, new datacenters. Simulations within simulations.
So what do you call generative music creating using code partially or wholly generated with generative AI? Metagenerative? Agenerative? Cogenerative? Aihop? Ghosthop?
Very pleasant time in the MRI machine today. A fifteen minute journey that began with the opening notes of Kraftwerk’s Autobahn and crescendoed with some Pan Sonic meets Alva Noto plus some amazing stereo haptics. Much better than the last MRI a year ago. Super inspiring machine, great experience.
This is the kind of statement we'll be seeing a lot of: "{question posed here} Trying to find a clear answer not generated by Google ai reading Reddit threads..."
one of my favorite coding terms: "monkey patch"
Keio line train today has rather annoying 180hz tone. (Just shy of F#). Must be third harmonic of the power or something…
If you truly enjoy coding, AI vibe coding sucks, as it takes away the coding enjoyment and forces you into being a manager. At best you will be managing a willful junior engineer that doesn't consistently take direction. At worst, you will be managing a slot machine (i.e. you will just be gambling).
@edzitron.com maybe you have, but I haven’t heard you discuss how vibe-coding and other generative use of AI is like Labubu or slots. What I mean by this is that it is low level gambling — the user keeps trying different prompts until they get something like what they want and a hit of dopamine.
Sometimes after trying to get AI to write code, I have that sort of depressed feeling you get after watching too much television. That sort of “why did I waste my time doing that” sort of feeling.
Tried the same with Dakota Access pipeline protests and the Boston Tea Party — try asking Google assistant or Siri “what were the Stonewall Riots”. Interesting that it only mentions the inn and police, no mention of other parties involved or reasons for the riots.
Kerning is important!
On a positive note — no more government shutdowns! (…except during said crashes and blackouts…conditions may apply)
Oh.. I missed the vending machine. You always have to have at least one of those apparently.
2 AI generated images. The second was created with the prompt "now make the original image look more like it is in Tokyo". Apparently if you want a scene to look like it is in Tokyo, you just add multiple billboards and many salarymen with umbrellas.
AI training material features the prompt "create an image of coworkers sharing reports", and the displayed example image result features 3 people at a table showing paper with a column chart, and a smallish golden retriever laying on papers on the table next to a laptop and cups of coffee.
Sorry one other question — I’m guessing there is a way to run code “build” in the publishing to pages process?
Ah, I thought that was the case. (Not the abuse part — that sucks).
Does strudel.cc run entirely on pages, or does it also rely on back-end compute other than just the service for serving the pages? If it is more than just in-browser, what do you use for back-end code?
