A Norman arch doorway with original intricate ironwork.
The West door, All Saints', Bakewell, Derbyshire
The ironwork on this door is almost certainly original and is stunning within the Norman arch.

Two shrouded bodies sit atop this tomb. Beautifully carved and situated in front of the church organ.
The rather interesting and unusual Beresford Tomb, St Edmund’s Church, Fenny Bentley, Derbs.
Both Thomas and his wife Agnes depicted within their burial shrouds.
Not spooky at all.

A large pockmarked rock, bejewelled with lichen, stands at the start of a curve of similar rocks. Each different size and shape, they curve away forming part of a much larger stone circle.
A small track, worn into the damp grass follows the curve of these ancient stones.

Described by Stukeley as being “corroded like worm eaten wood, by the harsh jaws of time”

A 3 light window sits within a few walled recess.
Each window is decorated with the same recurring geometric pattern.
An altar sits below a 3 light window.
The walls are tiled to half height with blue tiles that contrast with the stained glass window and the altar cloth.

A large standing stone emerges from a grassy meadow.
There are areas of green around the stone where the grass has been cut.
The rest is tall and brown, over ripening in the bright sunlight.
The bright blue sky trails into the distance.

Lewis Winks, of @righttoroam.bsky.social “From entry fees for historically open parks, to pay-for-permission wild camping and river swimming, the paywalling of the countryside is quietly shutting the public out."
