Picture of Marjane Satrapi alongside a quote from her. The quote reads: The world is not divided into countries. The world is not divided between East and West. You are American, I am Iranian, we don't know each other, but we talk together and we understand each other perfectly. The difference between you and your government is much bigger than the difference between you and me. And the difference between me and my government is much bigger than the difference between me and you. And our governments are very much the same... - Marjane Satrapi, Iranian-French graphic novelist
Thinking about this quote from Persepolis creator Marjane Satrapi again.
I know itβs most likely that he is sincere BUT part of me wonders since he loves WWE if this is a heel turn to promote ballet and opera by being an obvious villain rather than a vocal supporter which wouldnβt garner the same reaction.
The Netflix 2004 Red Sox doc hits just as hard today as when it first aired. I missed the moment then Joe Torre said that after the 2004 ACLS he asked to speak to Tim Wakefield. He felt for him in 03, when Wake had pitched so well and took that loss and wanted to personally congratulate him.
Statement from Jasmine Crockett.
Welp I guess thereβs no way to earn the votes of young men other than by courting and vocally backing the three fraudulent industries that are absolutely ruining their lives.
I didn't expect the "then they came for..." to hit me QUITE so specifically, but lesson learned.
Pete Hegseth's crazed rants at reporters reveal that Trump's rationales for attacking Iran are incoherent, confused, and based on lies. Dems don't have to take refuge in criticizing Trump's war on purely procedural grounds. They can go much harder. 1/

Despite being polar opposites, STRIP LAWβs Glem Blorchman often reminds me of Franklin Sherman, the father of Jon Lovitzβs character on THE CRITIC. Some of it is the great Steven Rootsβ delivery, particularly at the beginning of lines. Itβs one of many things that delight me about the show.
1. Major news on trans youth care. The American Psychological Association has reaffirmed its full support for its 2024 guidelines supporting trans youth car.e
It provided documentation showing Jesse Singal mischaracterized their position in the NYT.

Excellent photo editor work here
But Dan, he is tall AND *seems* presidential. Surely thatβs all it takes to be a candidate for president. Like Mitt Romney, and heβs like everyoneβs third favorite person named Mitt.
Old, as fake as can be candy - specifically Dots and the specialty flavored Tootsie Rolls kids get around Halloween.
This sounds like a fish sandwich that was on the menu at the North East chain restaunt Friendlyβs called a βFish-amajigβ - I had a standing offer to anyone I was with at a Friendlyβs that I would pay for their meal if they ordered and completed one. No one ever did.
This is all of it, the whole game right here.
Variant cover for Superman/Spider-Man #1 by Doc Shaner, featuring Spider-Man driving up the side of a building in the Spider-Mobile, and Superman driving the Super-Mobile, fending off attacks from their respective villains. It was a lot of work, thank you for your time.
Here's my variant cover for Superman/Spider-Man #1 without the text, featuring the vehicle that climbs walls and the other one that punches. Because I knew what to do with my one chance to draw Spider-Man.
Full disclosure: I am unsure I still have a DVD player.
I brought my friend who refused to ever watch a foreign film to see this in the theaters and we both loved it. Itβs an underrated classic that I still own on DVD.
One of these days, people will look back on these sports betting ads like we do on the ads for patent medicines featuring cocaine.
Jeffrey Bezos is destroying the Washington Post for the same reason Musk destroyed Twitter and Ellison is destroying CBSβoligarchs oppose the free press when if it threatens their wealth and power.
They donβt want normal people to see what is happening in America.
SORKIN: You just said it's unusual for a Republican to tell the truth?
KERNEN: It's unusual to be factual about something that right now is a senator's opinion
TILLIS: It's also unusualto try to undermine the Fed
K: LBJ threw a Fed Chair against the wall
T: Did he indict him?
K: No
T: Exactly
Georgiaβs Fulton County filed a challenge on Wednesday to the legality of a warrant and seizure of election records in an FBI search of an election facility last week, seeking the return of all confiscated files and the unsealing of a related affidavit. www.reuters.com/world/us/geo...
Jeff Bezos destroyed the Washington Post because he couldn't admit that he didn't know how to run a newspaper, and also because he felt entitled to turn it into his personal plaything. Both are functions of his ego, his greed, his heedlessness, and his insecurity. What a dark day.
the $75 million Jeff Bezos set on fire for that Melania propaganda piece could have funded most independent newsrooms for literally decades
I keep repeating the value of something canβt just be how much money it can make someone else, especially with art. Traditional/legacy media needs patronage too but the internet allows creative people experiment with an audience and let something just be what it is with loving criticism and fandom.
Just a reminder, the greatest living American historian filmmaker, Ken Burns, released a 720 min exploration of every facet of the American revolution using zero generative AI and paying for all of its assets instead of cobbling it from stolen data, then he gave it away for free on PBS this year.
It's been fun seeing The Consultants lose their mind about how they don't get this ad, which is the coolest shit she's done yet.
(Also, yes, that's Matt Mercer, who I've come to learn since this ad dropped is more famous than Michael Jordan.)
