What a lovely Saturday for me. First I see Janet Somerville's review of Bad Juliet in the Toronto Star, and now your cogent and enthusiastic review of Cold Eye. I wrote it more than thirty years ago, so it feels great that people can still enjoy it.
What a treat to read your review of Bad Juliet in my hometown paper!
What a treat to come across a cogent and enthusiatic review of a book I wrote more than thirty years ago. Thank you, Paul Finch!
Envoi: Go, little book, and may you shine in the hearts and minds of, well, everybody!
Thanks, Jamie--that was a good conversation!
In 1949 the USA, assisted by Great Britain and France, established an airlift of food to Berlin, which was blockaded by the USSR. Today I wrote to Prime Minister Carney suggesting that it would do much to alleviate suffering if we organized a similar airlift to the killing floor that is Gaza.
Thanks, Katherine!
We have so much, while others have so little--some are not even allowed to have a country--and I hope that Canadians, with elbows up but hearts open, will do everything we can to help others attain and preserve the rights and freedoms that make this land truly blessed. Happy Canada Day!
Hey, Loblaws, why are you always experiencing "longer than normal call volume?"
βThere was so much excitement around Ushaβs visit to Greenland this Friday, that I decided that I didnβt want her to have all that fun by herself, and so Iβm going to join her,β Vance said.
Jesus brought former sex worker Mary Magdalene to the Last Supper. Typical liberal, always virtue signalling.

Beautiful.
May it be so!
Hey Luna, Can't wait till you prove Oswald had no connection to Russia. Maybe look into the Lincoln assassination too--oh wait, it was the work of a rabid pro-slavery murderer, so you wouldn't have a problem with that.
My new novel is set in Saranac Lake, NY, in 1916. In the 1890s, S.L. inaugurated a winter carnival to entertain the TB patients in the sanitarium. It included a magnificent ice palace. I loved seeing it, and it ended up playing a significant role in Bad Juliet. #winterstories
Sorry Kellogg's. Raisin Bran has always been my favourite cereal, but as long as your government keeps threatening and insulting my country, well, buh-bye! #boycottusa #buycanadian #impeachtrump2025 #arrestelonmusk
This is horrific to see.
And any news organization that resorts to any sort of euphemism to describe this is absolutely failing everyone.
Happy to buy Canadian brand/Mexican made guitar strings--ten packs of them. No more Martin, Gibson, Dean Markey, Ernie Ball etc for me. #buycanadian #canadianhegemony #remember1812 #boycottUSA

Thank you, sir!
He and Bannon have clearly studied that evil b*stard and modelled themselves after him.
I love that film! Reminds me that Peter Ustinov once called The Nunβs Story βthe most erotic filmβ heβd ever seen. Donβt know if he saw this one.
