Told the tuxedo cat. Did not tell the orange cat. Sigh.

My name is Cat
I'm hip and cool
Don't give a fig
For human rule
"Don't lik that bred"
They say to me
But when they're gone
I LIK. Whoopee!

Just sternly told the cat 'do not lik the bred' and it's nice to be reminded that social media can be cheering and unifyingly silly

Help a Black trans kid afford care In the face of NHS failings, Isaac and his family need your help to afford trans healthcare.

2) Directly support young trans people and their families to access private care. They are not getting help from the NHS in England, this is a fact.

If you can afford it, donate directly to a young person. I'm already crowdfunding for Isaac (link below). If not, share fundraisers when you see them.

But what can I do – Dr Ruth Pearce Posts about But what can I do written by Ruth

There are two things you can do right now to support young trans people in England.

1) Engage in political advocacy and community support. I've got *loads* of advice on this in my blog post and zine "But what can I do? How to fight the trans panic".

NHS England pauses new prescriptions of cross-sex hormones for under-18s The health service said young people who already receive the drugs will continue to do so.

The Cass review, used to justify an ideological decision to withhold medical care from trans teenagers, is throughly discredited.
The Health Secretary and NHS England are lying to patients and their families and to the public.
This is severe institutional transphobia.

People should be REALLY scared by this, it's normalising refusing healthcare to a section of the community for entirely ideological reasons with absolutely no medical reason

My hairdresser and friend opened her business last week. Tonight it burned to the ground. This is devastating.

I’ve set up a fundraiser. If you haven’t done anything for international women’s day yet, here’s a chance to support a women-run business in need: www.paypal.com/pools/c/9nhn...

The fire at Glasgow central station is utterly devastating. Shops, homes and our transport link to England are being wiped out.
I am amazed by the limited news coverage.

I get yelled at for saying this but for many hundreds of years people went to university not to get diplomas or be employable but because immersion in the humanities was considered foundational to a good life, and school must return to its original purpose: the joy of learning.

Am v conscious of how 'yeah whatever Jan' I was when younger about my perpetually too-hot work colleague and how simple it would've been for 1) me to know not to be such a prick and b) the workplace to have supported her over me. Let alone the extraordinary ignorance we all carry about for no reason

Also: oh look HRT, that thing we prescribe people to make them not feel distraught and desperate, perhaps we could do more of that

I have a mum and three older sisters and perimenopause was like some horrid surprise with no manual. 40s is when it'll hit many of us, earlier also not unusual. I thought it would be a nice reprieve from periods. It's not, at all, but HRT helped me and many with some of the many types of bleh.

The theme for today's #BirdOfTheDay is #StandingInWater.

Gone for a bit of an arty one today. Two waders which I think are probably redshanks; bills a bit short for godwits.

If you're doomscrolling, guess what? So far there are 51 kākāpō chicks hatched and thriving this season, the same number of birds as we had in TOTAL in the 90s! Only one chick has died and there are still fertile eggs waiting to hatch!

Single Daily Tablet Shows Powerful Results for People With Drug-Resistant HIV A large international clinical trial has unveiled a promising new option for people living with highly treatment-resistant HIV.

A development such as this has been a goal for HIV researchers for decades. It is important because people who are faced with difficult treatment regimens are less likely to be compliant.

Everything about this is bizarre but um, could there be some hair-having people who do not in fact go to a barber?

(I do go to a barber cos short hair and cheap and I live somewhere with queer barbers! But I don't think I'm their audience)

Deepest sympathies. Spent about £800 last year on Ludo 'being a bit off and then being ok again'. But so awful when you know they aren't right and can't know if it's a thing that's not a thing or a thing fixed by £££s.

🚨 It looks like the UK government is gearing up to upend copyright law in favour of AI companies, legalising the theft of their work.

This is despite creatives' huge protests, and despite previous proposals being roundly rejected by the public.

Please spread the word.

Hiya book lovers! Today is St David’s Day which is the national day of recognising Welsh people for being hot and talented and cool. How about you go read some Welsh books (here’s some fun romcoms!!) and enjoy a lil Catatonia and several Welsh cakes x πŸ“šπŸ’™

Please don't post photos of dead children, or videos of dead children, or yell DONT LOOK AWAY. You are sick. Log off. Touch grass. You have PTSD and are inflicting it on us all. If you are not in media/ a conflict researcher/ etc you do NOT need to consume Horrors. Blocking lots right now.
