As Supreme Court Justice Louis Brandeis stated in 1933; “We can have democracy in this country or we can have great wealth concentrated in the hands of the few, but we cannot have both.”

Today, at a time of unprecedented income & wealth inequality, his words ring truer than ever.

The Mystery of Food Deserts They didn’t materialize around the country for no reason. Something happened.

1. The conventional explanation for food deserts—that these places are too poor or too rural to generate enough spending on groceries, or too Black to overcome racist corporate redlining — fail to grapple with a key fact: food deserts didn’t used to exist. My new piece in The Atlantic.

The Democrats’ Electoral College Squeeze In the future, even winning the former “Blue Wall” states won’t be enough for the party’s presidential nominees.

New >> California and New York are projected to lose up to 8 electoral votes in 2030. Texas and Florida are projected to gain 8.

If Kamala Harris had to compete with that map, even winning Pennsylvania, Michigan, and Wisconsin wouldn’t have saved her. www.theatlantic.com/politics/arc...
