I think its a story about the importance of balance. Early on, Francis is too wet due to his drinking. Dr Stanley, on the other hand, shows the dangers of trying to be too dry:
The Terror encompasses the spectrum because they start on a boat and get trapped on a frozen ocean (wet) but then, despite their initial joy, finally making it to land (dry) doesn't actually save them at all. The Dry Will Not Save You.

Plus, it led me to the gender neutral "The Majesty" which is so extra and queer and fae. No, they're not just *a* queen, they're not just his or her majesty. They're the fucking embodiment of majesty itself.
That was a great example of using what could have been a challenge as an opportunity tbh. Instead of just being a queen, you were something else, something a bit more unknowable. I could rely on some of the classic tropes of a queen while adding or implying differences.
Ok. What am I supposed to do about that.
