Includes domain-specific models (which only meet one or two criteria), core models (which meet almost all criteria), and EE models (which include all criteria for inclusion but might have caveats for inclusion). Axes are thematic/qualitative and not explicitly quantitative due to having many dimensions simplified to two. The single asterisk on MAgPIE denotes that we refer to the highly spatialized versions of the model, especially those that are further downscaled with a LUC model (von Jeetze et al. 2023). Some models could have attributes from different category boxes, making perfect categorization challenging, especially when distinguishing between CGE models and IAMs. Models that are frequently paired with other models from different groups (e.g., REMIND-MAgPIE or MESSAGE-GLOBIOM) are labeled with only their IAM name for clarity and are denoted with two asterisks.
