Loperfido had a BABIP of .431 last year and the K rates were still high. Let’s not confuse him for the full time big league bat outfielder we needed since last spring because he hustled and fields well. #Astros

Melton has crazy potential, Rays GM was raving about him as a possible star. Loperfido is at his ceiling IMO, strikeouts will limit his at bats. Nice defensive replacement, and they got off Sanchez’s contract. So fine. Maybe they’ll aim higher on a Paredes move with more $ under the tax.

Never in a million years would I think the Astros GM would dump Melton and bring back Loperfido. scouting?

And frankly if this were the case why not keep Melton and see what we get from him. If we’re dumping Melton and Brito to compete, what’s this?

If the Astros can’t get a good deal on an outfield talent like Duran for Paredes +, maybe it makes more sense to wait with the early crunch of games without days off, and rotate infield players and DH, then when a 1B or DH is hurt for the season, move Walker instead.
