The shingles vaccine is incredible #learnsomethingnew #sciencefacts #vaccineswork
TikTok video by Alex Falcone
This video is imparting genuinely amazing news about the shingles vaccine, but also contains a description of vaccines that made me laugh so hard I had to sit down. “We inject the dead version so that when the live one shows up it knows we’ve killed before” is both accurate and SO FUCKING FUNNY

I don't fundamentally disagree with your point, but this graphic makes as much sense as the US map with counties in red and blue. Square mileage doesn't vote/pay taxes; people do. As someone else mentioned, those GOP counties are much more sparsely populated.

“Our findings redefine SARS-CoV-2 infection as a condition of long-lasting immune compromise.”
At this point, I genuinely have no ability to comprehend how is anyone not scared sh*t-less about the long-term consequences of infections, especially on kids?

What a beautiful piece! I'm preparing to give a talk to faculty at month's end that leans on reflection, and I'm loving this notion that pedagogical challenge become easier (possibly even solved) when we engage in reflection. #HigherEd

A hotel thermostat displays an indoor temperature of 59° F.
My friend and I went to NYC in early January and slept with the window ajar. It was 59° when we woke up the next morning. We felt triumphant.

Today I traveled from 75°+ Nashville to Boston, where there's probably going to be snow tomorrow, and I'm like a husky on her best day ever.

Big shout-out to Logan airport, which has "arriving aircraft" and "departing aircraft" signage on the roads, so you don't get stuck in a Dave Barry-esque brainteaser: "I'm arriving at the airport, but then I'm departing for..."

This is all new to me, but the headline I saw earlier felt a bit sweeping in its claims of Tetris as a magic solution. I'll dig in more soon--this is fascinating!
.
I played so much Tetris on my original game boy when I came out that I dreamed of falling blocks for at least a year in my early teens.

I don't know a lot about Tetris for trauma & only just heard about this hypothesis 3 skeets above yours, but there's something about repetitive play that engages a different part of the brain & allows for a wee bit of dissociation. Says the woman who plays spider solitaire at least 100 rounds/day.

Congress must return immediately and vote to put an end to this war.
Every Senator should be on the record—the American people deserve to know which of their leaders supports another potentially bloody and costly war in the Middle East.
No war with Iran.

I'm begging the people decrying a moral panic about Epstein to read a book, any book, on the topic. Moral panics involve:
1) Media-driven falsity
2) Panic over ongoing and future threats, not accountability for past actions
3) Calls for draconian policies
That's not what's happening.

Bet You Didn't Notice 'The Invisible Gorilla'
If you're intensely watching a ball game, and a gorilla walks onto the court, you'd notice him ... right? Believe it or not, there's actually a 50 percent chance you'd miss him entirely. Christopher ...
Apropos of absolutely nothing, this afternoon my #Neurodivergent brain popped out this research Q: Do neurodivergent ppl notice the gorilla more often than neurotypicals? I offer this RQ up to anyone who wants to investigate. #Psychology #Research #AcademicSky www.npr.org/2010/05/19/1...
