It's near-white out conditions in Chicago as the snow comes down, and tonight's anti-ICE/CBP rally is wrapping up in front of city hall.
But not before the crowd bounces and chants, "I believe that we will win!"

I do not regret to inform you that we are going to win.
ICE kidnapped a 5-year-old and sent him alone to a facility in Texas. Hell isn't hot enough.
I realize this is small potatoes in comparison to this weekβs horrors, but a heads up cat parents - Hillβs Science Diet changed their formula on the dry Hairball and Urinary Tract food and it is hot garbage. The new formula is labeled chicken and rice instead of just chicken.
1) I donβt stop to listen to the person shouting conspiracy theories through a megaphone on the street, why would I do it online? 2) Imagine finding your own company so insufferable that you beg people you hate to come talk to you.

People can and should be single-issue voters when the issue is their existence.
3) It is wildly naive to think that the GOP in 2025 is acting in what they believe is the best interests of their constituents, which is what this whole idea of moving towards the center relies on. The two parties do not exist on some magical ideological number line together.
Screenshot of the following text: βThe Republican Party changed between 2012 and 2024 Between 2012 and 2024, Republicans became more extreme on issues like democracy, the rule of law, immigration, and transgender rights. But Republicans also moved toward the center on several issues, including moderating their stances on Medicare and Social Security and dropping pledges to repeal the Affordable Care Act, ban abortion nationwide, and pass a constitutional amendment to prohibit same-sex marriage.,β
This specific paragraph fills me with rage:
1) βissues like democracyβ like itβs a run of the mill policy issue and not the whole goddamn ballgame
2) βmoved towards the centerβ so one might also say that they movedβ¦ left π€
The actual winning strategy for Dems might be to never listen to anyone involved in this nonsense ever again.
You might not know someone who had a βNazi phase,β but you do know someone who has made a racist remark at a meal or meeting with no consequence. These guys donβt exist in a vacuum and we have to look at how we may be contributing to the environment that produces them.
Thank you, Cubs, for understanding that my mental health needed that W.
The President turning the military against Americans is a bigger story than the shutdown and media outlets should treat it accordingly.
Hereβs a thought: rather than pointlessly asking someone else to do something, you instead focus on what you are going to do about it. Because this ainβt it.
That is how a lot of red states are. Itβs not helpful to treat the residents as a monolith. Iowa was a swing state not so long ago and there are a lot of people doing good work there. They certainly arenβt morons.
In the 2020 election, Ernstβs opponent won Johnson county (Iowa City) by over 40 points. 48% of the state voted for someone besides Ernst.
Linus, a reddish brown medium-haired tabby cat, laying on his back, squished between the arm of a brown chair and someoneβs leg. His head is tilted, one eye is partially shut, and the vacancy of his stare indicates what I have long suspected: that thereβs nothing but tv static and circus music behind those eyes.

You do not have to redeem anyoneβs actions to make them deserving of basic rights and freedoms, nor should you. If someone has to be βgoodβ in order to deserve their humanity, you will forever be moving the goalposts and forever bending a knee to the arbiter du jour of good and evil.
You can believe that everyone deserves the right to a fair trial. That does not mean you condone the crime. You can believe that no one deserves to suffer from gun violence. That does not mean you have to condone a victimβs hate speech.
The way in which some people seem to be unable to understand that a belief in something for *all people* does not need to equal an endorsement of an individualβs actions within explains a lot about the public defender discourse that was happening on here a couple weeks ago.
Some folks in the comments need to realize even when they are saying things you agree with, itβs still a bad thing to have people being secretly paid mouthpieces for a lobbying group.
Dem members of Congress acting like the people having a giggle on the internet are the ones who can do something about this billβ¦actually explains a lot about their job performance.
And congrats on disturbing the rest of my evening as I wonder if you were trying to assess how easy it would be to break into my house or harass me.
Little tip for the fellas: do not start a conversation with a neighbor you have never once spoken to with βare you single?β Even if you mean well, it comes off as super creepy.
How easy is it for them to terminate a CBA? Based on the OPM memo sent out as a follow-up, it doesnβt sound like they actually know. The directive to agencies is to consult their General Counsel about how to implement the order.
Everything is terrible, but little things like this offer a brief moment of respite.
I hate that itβs probably going to take peopleβs favorite performers and athletes to start refusing to come to the US to get a sizeable chunk of the population to wake up to anything that is happening.
I would also be curious what the league has to say about ICEβs current practices because it is only a matter of time before an MLB player or prospect is on the receiving end of ICEβs abhorrent actions.
