Combination of the lack of atmosphere (due to it being a massive former airfield). Cost. Far too keen on health & safety in the campsites (no vehicles with tents, no fires etc), just adds to soulless yet expensive experience and people will pick a European round instead.
That and marketing, making people feel as though they have to fly to be going on holiday.
