This is awful news to come out of Nottingham. MedRen-ers will be aware that Nottingham has hosted three MedRens in 2012, 1985, and the first ever MedRen in 1972.

Student Paper Prizes: RMA/Musici Trust Prize for a paper on music before 1600: Speakers will be invited to submit their papers to the RMA/Musici Trust prize for a student paper on music before 1600. The winner will receive a £300 prize, be offered mentorship, and also be invited to present their work at the RMA Annual Conference. RMARC Student Paper Prize: Speakers will be invited to submit their papers to the Royal Musical Association Research Chronicle student-paper prize. Participation will be open to all speakers. The winner will receive a £100 book token from Cambridge University Press, as well as mentorship from the editors of RMARC to develop and expand their submission for publication in RMARC.

Following a request from the Musici Trust, the deadline for proposals for the 2026 BFE/RMA Research Students' Conference has been extended by one week to next Thursday, 25th September.
The deadline has now been extended!

In my post conference feels on the train home, but had such a fab time at my first MedRen! I met so many amazing people and feel incredibly lucky to be part of such a stimulating community. Def heading home with a huge to-do list!

Phenomenal work by @medren2025.bsky.social continuing an unusually anarchic conference tradition. This conference stands out among other musicology conferences for its unique combo of high levels of calibre, craic, and camp, and it was a delight to be a part of 🥰
