Doing some historical research for a project and while it's an obvious point that we all "know" in some sense, it's bracing and shocking to be reminded of just how violent a place America has been throughout its history.
For the generals yesterday, resistance meant total silence. And I thank them for it. But for the rest of us, silence is cowardice. Silence in the face of this daily onslaught against democracy, the rule of law, pluralism, the Constitution, and basic human decency is utter cowardice.
