You know how sometimes you’re playing a video game like Resident Evil and you see a bottle on the ground and you zoom in to read the label and realize that you’re not actually supposed to read any of the text and what you’re looking at is something surreal and confusing

I also write in 3rd person past tense. And I will encourage others to switch to that when they are starting out. 1st person is MUCH more likely to have a disconnect with the reader that breaks immersion. What causes that will be different per reader, but result will be dissonance and discomfort.

This is also how I solved the social nightmare of choosing a place to eat. I offer three cuisine choices instead of open ended "Where should we eat?" "Would you like Burgers, Sushi, or Italian?" almost always gets a better response.

I've been wanting to be a Nightmare lately. Yes, that means bringing bad dreams, but it also means intentionality. Bringing terror to those that should never get rest. And, conversely, protecting those that deserve peaceful rest. To guard the dreams of my friends while terrifying their oppressors.

The body is polished banded agate, hand-carved from a natural geode, with the raw amethyst druzy crust left along the spine as a jagged, sparkling purple mane.
